Excellent Food in a Terrific Location

Directly across from the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry, the Steamroom offers quick (not fast) food that is very tasty. Seafood is the mainstay but they offer other options too. Try the breaded shrimp with corn on the cob as a side or their famous soup in bread. Highly recommended stop... read more

We were there on Thursday, which was bogo lobster. It's rustic but with a fun atmosphere. The food was fabulous. It's an open air restaurant where you order and pick up the food at a counter, but they really know their seafood.

I remember the steam room from 2002 and from 2 years ago. It was good and you gut a lobster with shells for a reasonable price that tasted good Ordered the mussels marinara (tomato sauce right off the can) and the seafood paella (swimming seafood cooked in a metal bowl and yellow rice added that swims, not like the picture... This is a place you order at a counter and then you pick it up when they call your number. You are eating with plastic utensils and on paper plates. Food was terrible. My lobster salad sandwich was a ice cream scoop of lobster salad on a hot dog roll. Lobster salad was dry and they could have at least... More

We have been going to the Steamroom since 1984, if I remember correctly. You can eat inside or out. Lovely view of the ferry and people strolling around the pretty Village. The food is always fresh. The menu is above the counter where you order......they will call your receipt number when your order is ready. Not a fancy place.......but, very... More

Thursday is lobster special day and it should not be missed! Buy one, get one free is how the promotion works and it offers exceptional value. The atmosphere is unique: open dining overlooking the harbor, self service( pick up at the counter, self seating). The food is fresh, the variety covers all fishes and the sides are a la cart... I love this place. I've been coming here since I was in high school back in the late 70s. I love their specials, but I think the lobster bisque in a bread bowl has to be my favorite. A lot of my friends don't see what I see. Their idea of trying to eat with paper napkins is not their... More

My wife and I had disembarked the ferry from Bridgeport and wanted a light lunch, preferably sea food. The Steam Room looked good from the street. So, we gave it a try. Their menu is quite varied. So, when we were at the counter ordering we asked the pleasant young lady taking our order for some recommendations and tried to... More

This is an open air affordable place to eat in the quaint tourist town of Port Jefferson, Long Island. The food is good, the atmosphere is in a nautical setting as the Long Island Sound & the Harbor/Marina is just across the street. I would recommend trying this spot for a nice day trip.

We only had a drink at the Steamroom. The location is very nice if you want to be on the waterfront. It's a busy place with the ferry's coming in from Connecticut. The staff were nice to us but it was an off time. We wanted to go back but it was too busy & we had to get back... More
