Stopped by Coal Tower for a very early breakfast. Waited upon immediately. Ordered a 3 egg omelet with spinach, mushrooms and swiss cheese. I chose the Egg Beaters rather than eggs. The omelet came out in under 10 minutes. It was perfectly folded, which you normally don't get! The filling of spinach, mushrooms and cheese were generous. Overall it was... More

Amazing pumpkin soup! Smooth & creamy, served with a dollop of whip cream. It's fantastic and only served during the season.

Our Immediate Family Gets Together With Relatives On My Husband's Side Every Summer At Coal Tower Restaurant. We were there last in July 2014. The Coal Tower has a diverse menu which will appeal to everyone. There are also quite a few selections for vegetarians. The food is very good and reasonably priced, and the service is very good. They... More

With all of the more upscale restaurants located here, it is refreshing that they have a more casual, diner-like place to go to. However, I think to really shine, they need exceptional service, and fantastic food - while the food and service were pretty good - I would not say it stands out all that much. Also, it is surprising... More

We were in the area on the weekend and dropped by this scenic canal side area for dinner. This seemed like a quaint restaurant and we gave it a try. It is a typical American diner and was quite busy. The server was friendly and prompt and we decided to try the specials of the day. I selected the halibut... More

Newishly renovated the Coal Tower is an excellent place for breakfast, lunch and dinner - good food, nice atmosphere and reasonably priced.

I was told that the Coal Tower had a good breakfast. Unfortunately we were their for lunch. It was average. We were seated outside which was nice and pleasant. I had a tomato bean soup to start which was very good. After this promising beginning, the reminder of the meal was just average. My tuna salad was bland. My wife... More

I was expecting something unique but was disappointed in the decor, food, and service. The food was that of a common diner not good. The waitress did not smile once. The place is very small and I assume she was trying to turn over our table to get to the next party. I would not go back. Price reasonable but... More

Coal tower has many diner favorites to choose from for the perfect unassuming and quaint breakfast or lunch. Don't let the old building fool you though, many a Pittsford deal has been likely struck under this roof. The coffee is always good and hot as it should be and service is fairly quick. You can't go wrong with this little... More
