a quiet and very good dinner

So, this small Italian roadside restaurant is very good. Certainly the best Italian in the village. Fresh fish was really good, and the wine list was modest and fairly priced. I'd go back soon. I think it's AMEX or cash though if I recall correctly. Host couldn't be nicer.

We eat here several times a year on our own and bring out-of-town visitors if we are going out to dinner. Invariably, when guests come back, they ask to go there. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The waitstaff is always friendly and helpful (very little turnover), and the atmosphere is relaxed. There's quite a bit of variety... More

We have visited here several times and have never been let down. The service, food and atmosphere is second to none. The menu is diverse and always some specials that are not to be missed. Even after a full meal the desert's are excellent and then gave us an excuse to walk through the Village of Piermont to take in... More

First the Martinis are second to none. Second the food is always hot and consistent.Atmosphere usually considerate people enjoying their meals, very enjoyable. The owner picks his own wine. Tell him what you like he will suggest the perfect wine.if you want a over the top opulent place don't go here. Its quaint understated and classy. Leave time to walk... More

While this was the second time here it didn't disappoint. They are a very good Italian restaurant with a great bar and dinner area. Service was a tad slow but we were a larger group drinking our wine and talking and having fun so no one cared and when we asked they jumped right in. Great food at a great... More

After reading all the reviews I was sure our dinning experience would be great, but unfortunately was a disappointment. The waitress took the order and did not see her again, always had to ask to have our water glasses filled. Asked another waitress for Belvedere Vodka, waitress came back said do not carry Belvedere ok Asked for a Merlot wine again... More

Terrific, homemade food with attentive but not obtrusive service. Moderate prices for creative, delicious food. A welcome site in the Piermont dining scene.

Cafe Portofino has become our go-to place when we want a very good dinner. There is never any doubt that we will be welcomed, treated well and well fed. The menu isn't wildly creative but neither is it standard red-sauce Italian. It is a menu that respects the ingredients used and is incredibly consistently prepared.

Our friends are regulars here and took us to this charming waterfront town of Piermont. I would love to spend a week here. Cafe portofino is small, but cozy and intimate. Super staff - Anne Marie was our waitress and she was wonderful. From the first basket of bread to the swordfish to the coconut sorbet served in a coconut... More

Small and cozy Italian restaurant that can be a bit loud. Food is good, but I have had better. I ordered what was called Branzino but is actually Chilean sea bass. What is that all about, they are two totally different fishes. It looked and smelled great but even with all that was going on on the plate, it lacked... More
