Ranked #5 of 9 Restaurants in Phoenicia
Cuisines: American
Description: Phone: 845-688-3050 This cafe/market opened at the end of May 2010, and we discovered it when we visited Phoenicia for a weekend in October 2010. It features homemade and local-sourced food in a very casual atmosphere (no table service - you order and pay for your food, then have a seat). We stopped by three times because we enjoyed the food so much and we thought the owner (Michael) was great. He is supporting the community in tangible ways (sponsoring scarecrow-making and a Halloween parade) while serving delicious food. They are even serving s'mores by a campfire in front of the store on Friday and Saturday evenings! Makes me want to live in Phoenicia..... Mama's Boy serves Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; you can stop in for a cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate, dessert, or a whole meal. Michael will make you feel welcome no matter what.

We had no idea the Catskills are a cell-phone Siberia. So we were always hopping from one wifi place (our hotel) to another. Not that many eateries feature wifi, but Mama's Boy does. They have a cute porch for breakfast, which was a yogurt and granola parfait that was way too dry and heavy on granola. But we got wifi!

Decent coffee in a REAL mug. Cool setting and catered for gluten free. The bakery items looked great too.

Samantha, Thanks so much for stopping into Mama's Boy. I'm sorry that your experience was less than stellar. I will agree with you on a few points. We're really not a restaurant, we're a coffee shop. We don't have table service; we're more of a grab and go kinda place. Think Starbucks, but with locally roasted coffee, smoothies, fruit and... More

We discovered this quaint little shop by accident after checking out of the nearby Black Bear campground. The selection of baked goods and other prepared foods was excellent, and the coffee hit the spot after a night of very little sleep! I enjoyed a homemade morning glory muffin, which was delicious and still slightly warm. The line was long when... More

We just happened to stop by the main strip in town and was attracted by the mama's boy sign. I went in and decided that I wanted some ice cream. Ordered the Coconut joy and cappuccino and they both tasted very heavenly. I am not a coconut person but enjoyed the coconut joy very much. It was fill with coconut... More

Beautiful selection of homemade baked goods, Monkey Joe coffee (roasted in Kingston!), Jane's ice cream, delicious sandwiches and tamales, what more could you ask for? But yes, there's more! The owner is friendly and accommodating, inside seating is cozy, like being in a farm kitchen, and outside, covered seating is also available. The value is worth mentioning; two of us... More

Muffins are wonderful but takes way too long to have them toasted with butter. Took 15 minutes! Coffee was good but sat at a rickety table and had to balance the plates and coffee so it wouldn't spill. Better to take out and do not ask for toasted!

Great coffee! Lots of goodies to eat, including chocolate-covered bacon. Fun stuff on the walls. The owner is very community minded so I like to stop here - I never leave unhappy.

What a weird place. Coffee is good, rolls are sweet, bagels are firm and the furniture is wobbly. Take out is preferred.

I just read your review of Mama’s Boy, the coffee shop I opened a few years back in Phoenicia. I tried to respond to your comments privately, but you aren't accepting private messages. I’m really very sorry that you had a negative experience here. I care very deeply about people’s experience when they come in the door, but obviously we... More
