Phone: 845-688-3050 This cafe/market opened at the end of May 2010, and we discovered it when we visited Phoenicia for a weekend in October 2010. It features homemade and local-sourced food in a very casual atmosphere (no table service - you order and pay for your food, then have a seat). We stopped by three times because we enjoyed the food so much and we thought the owner (Michael) was great. He is supporting the community in tangible ways (sponsoring scarecrow-making and a Halloween parade) while serving delicious food. They are even serving s'mores by a campfire in front of the store on Friday and Saturday evenings! Makes me want to live in Phoenicia..... Mama's Boy serves Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; you can stop in for a cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate, dessert, or a whole meal. Michael will make you feel welcome no matter what.

Love the pie!

Their pecan pie isn't too sweet (hard to find), the peach pie has the right acidity, and all the crusts are properly flaky. I never know what pie they'll have -- I just get a piece because after all my visits, I know I'll love it. I love that they have something for everyone -- muffins (REAL... read more

We came across Mamma's Boy by chance and were charmed by it from the first moment on. They offer a nice range of attractive coffee-shop items, and the woman working that day was friendly and efficient (she said she had been working there for 3 years). The mushroom soup was so good (and pleasingly unusual) that we actually ordered seconds!... More

Went for a ride through Woodstock and Pheonecia with my family and we decided to stop and possibly get a cup of coffee or something small from Mama's Boy Market. Upon pulling up to the building we realized the building was a little run down and through the windows we could see the inside was very cluttered. After walking inside... More

Normally I try not to respond to negative reviews because responses just come off as argumentative, but I obviously need to respond here as your accusations are very serious. First of all, the tamales are not moldy, discoloration in corn husks occur naturally. We buy the tamales from a local Mexican restaurant in small batches and would never, ever sell... More

This little jewel is a neat place to get a great cup of coffee, catch up on your emails, and get some work done. Really the only place in town you can sit and work at your computer and get that second cup. Wifi is always solid, they post the password on the wall. Also very community minded, you'll find... Mama's boy is a homey, funky, coffee shop in the heart of Phoenicia. Michael has created his own blend to create the best cup of coffee for miles around. The food is homemade style comfort food. His soups are deeelish. My wife likes the pulled pork sandwich, I like the brisket. Service is always friendly, even when place is super... More

Clean, shabby, friendly and with delicious food. The establishment has a "Pay it Forward" blackboard where people can buy coffee or baked goods for those less fortunate than themselves. It is clearly a community minded establishment. The bakery goods and coffee are excellent. They also have prepared foods for take-out that are delicious. The staff were sweet and friendly and... We went to mama's Boy based on a recommendation, and from it's cool website. I am an annoying coffee snob so take this as you wish. The coffee was weak and not flavorful. They claim "best coffee in Phonecia" so I thought it worth mentioning. The food is pre-made shown in a deli case, and then microwaved. We did however... More

Well, when you're right you're right. Here's what likely happened.. Our coffee brewer broke down on a busy weekend in September and I was forced to go out and buy a less-that-ideal temporary replacement until our new brewer arrived. During that period, we may have occasionally gotten the proportions wrong, while making the coffee, which might be why you received... More

Loved the eclectic, unpretentious decor and unbelievably friendly service, not to mention the creamy, foamy lattes. Will come back - often!

I found this little place while filling up at the gas station next door, during a recent road trip which brought me through the Catskill Mountains. I needed a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich for sustenance, for the drive between Binghamton, NY and Northampton, MA. Phoenicia is a sweet, unpretentious small village which was on my route, offering... More

Ice cream very good! Quaint place in centre of town. Wi fi free in this place of cell phone silence. Worth the visit for this alone! Have been told that lunch BBQ is worth a visit. Will try it next time.
