Fish and chips were heavy on batter. I asked for vinaigrette for my salad and got a creamy balsamic. My sister ordered the salmon and it was tasty but on the dry side. I could have accepted any of the dishes being not the best if the wait staff was attentive, but we had to wait for water, my sister... More

We actually were in route to another restaurant but found that it was closed. We decided to give this place a shot even after reading some of the unfavorable reviews. We were served promptly by a very pleasant young lady. The salads were fresh & had a few non typical ingredients, such as fresh fennel & was delicious! My friends... More

It has been a long time since I’ve been here but I will return again. A friend and I stopped for lunch and a good chat. They were not too busy which was a surprise since it seemed most everything in Pawling is closed on Monday! We had a very nice lunch. The menu isn’t overwhelming and we were just... More

I am sitting in McGrath's as I write this. Second time we have tried this place. It is a shame .. This place could be great but not run by anyone who knows what they are doing. Started with a mojito .. A common drink. Came out too sweet with no lime to speak of and mint that was starting... More

We have stopped here a number of times when traveling through the area. The staff seem very nice but service sometimes is not the best. The biggest problem we have found is lack of consistency. The menu is good and has enough offerings to choose from. Unfortunately we have repeated some of the items on different visits, sometimes it's good,... More

We had a small reception for our wedding at McGrath's, a local restaurant. From the very first time we entered to discuss the details, we were welcomed with a level of warmth that is hard to describe. The family that owns and operates the restaurant are welcoming, friendly, and unbelievably competent. The food was excellent, and the service was perfect.... More

If you are looking for a casual restaurant for a not fussy menu then McGrath's is the place. Large burgers cooked just the way you like, great French Onion soup and chili. Nice beer selection. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great family restaurant.

Don't expect high quality food at this establishment; my experience has been so-so, with just nothing particularly well prepared. It is ok if you don't need anything special but a burger and a beer, but they don't seem to have folks working who would be proud to be making great fish, meat, salads, or anything of quality. The atmosphere is... More

Friday night waiting for my son to finish snowboarding at Thunder Ridge, we were looking for a close place to get dinner. We have been to McGraths before and knew that it has a very good selection of beers on draft. My husband went for a burger with gorgonzola, it came just as he wanted, with a lot of crispy... More

After a short hike in the Pawling area, we stopped at McGrath's Tavern for lunch. The fact that it has Revolutionary War era settler cemetery in the front of the building was reason enough for me to check it out. The interior is your typical roadhouse tavern with a cozy bar and lots of Irish art and writings on the... More
