we visited the pub!

Bartenders were great! We tried many of the 7 deadly sins martinis and they were pretty amazing, I enjoyed sloth and wrath the most! Live music in the front corner was great as well. This is a must if you would like to try some old style cocktails or old style with a new twist.

For a college town miles from big city life, Oswego has some pretty fine restaurants. This is one. Bistro 197 (The locals just call it The Bistro.) serves very good and unique food offerings. They take some common restaurant items, like Chicken and Waffles or Meatloaf and Mac and Cheese and give it a unique and more savory twist. Other... More

Exceptional service, very nice atmosphere, the food was very high quality, meat was cooked to perfection, sides were very light and tastfully done, vegetables were crisp and obviously of high quality, plating was very professional. Overall a very high quality experience. Also had a very nice experience at the bar, high quality drinks with exceptional service and very smoooooooth music.

After finally taking our order, our waitress forgot our ice water that we requested. Almost completely ignored for about 15 minutes, we finally had to get the attention of another waitress since ours was nowhere to be found. Just seemed like she was preoccupied with some other activity the whole time we were seated, and we were simply an after... More

We recently returned to Bistro 197 for another wonderful meal. There are a number of things on the menu which I have had in the past and was happy to see that they are still there. The steaky bacon appetizer might reduce your life span if you ate it every day, but it is simply wonderful. The duck wings are... More

I ordered the New York Strip and it came with tossed greens and truffle oil french fries. Everything was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming back here. Only criticism is that there was no ice with the table water served.

Imagine yourself boarding an airplane, taxiing for takeoff, and then being advised that this is your pilot's day off. Thus was our recent experience at Bistro 197, when we were told, after being seated, that we could indeed dine, albeit sans chef. Are you curious? We were. A cheese plate, some other whatever items, and two glasses of wine later,... More

Hello Sir. Thank you for your visit to the bistro. I typically do not respond to online reviews, but was very confused by your post myself, and wanted no confusion when prospective customers read your report. Your visit with us was to the lounge side of the restaurant on a Monday. The Bistro side is open for dinner Tuesday thru... More

I have eaten here a few times since you've opened. Usually have a good dining experience. Food is usually quite tasty. However on my last trip the other day, wherein I dined with friends around the bar. We stopped in for your burger special and $1.50 domestic beers. However your bar tender, Mark, was not the most pleasant I have... More

I'm a local from Oswego. The Bistro is one of mine and my group of friends' favorite places to meet up for dinner and drinks. The girls and I came in on Monday for some cocktails and a small bite. The drinks and food were both delicious but the service was being "disappointing" would be the understatement of the year.... More

Does not seem to fit in with the city of oswego, but it is a really nice place if you are looking for classy food. High prices for both food and drink, nice atmosphere and there was live music. Food was really good (I had a steak).
