We were drawn into this place by the smell of warm soup wafting down the street. Once inside, the Middle Earth decor and friendly, baggy-clad workers immediately gave it away as an outpost of the Twelve Tribes, an alternative religious community with a mixed history. The food was warm and nourishing, we had the lentil soup which was as tasty... More

We chose this restaurant by reading the menu posted outside. The cranberry cashew salad was to die for! (delicious bread included.) My husband's Rueben was also excellent. We had to wait for a short while...it was lunchtime. The staff was friendly and helpful. The owner filled us in on the history of the building. An all-around pleasant experience.

Two of us stopped in for lunch around 2:00 on a Monday. We had parked in the free lot behind the restaurant, so we entered through the back, downstairs entrance. When we arrived, few tables were occupied, one or two more when we left an hour later. We were quickly shown a table, and given menus and water by a... More

This is such a unique place to eat. Such great attention has been made to the inside...beautiful. Great food too...speciality soups exchange day...all are great. Sandwiches are great too. And the smoothies are really good. Salads good too. Have tried just about everything on the menu and all us great. The only thing I'm not fond of are the desserts...and... More

I agree with the Hobbit decor comments. Neat setting. Luckily got there 10 minutes after opening because all of the wanna be hippie college kids rolled in right after we did....nice friendly staff...mostly dudes in jeans and beards in 90 degree weather... and some mother earth lady in some Amish gear who seemed nice. Blueberry muffins were great...i mean great...."rose"...... More

The restaurant looks like the set for the Hobbit. The bread is homemade. They have a huge selection of drinks, all are natural and flavored with honey. Since we had never been there they brought out samples of several of their drinks. Including a green energy drink that was intersting to say the least. I ordered the rootbeer on tap... More

I live in Oneonta and have eaten here in many occasions. The food is good everyone is very friendly but it is taking longer and longer to get service and 3 times there has been a mistake with the order whether it was requesting a bottle of soda and getting a mug to getting a menu and then waiting over... This was a selection of a family member who lives in town. We had only been in the area once and she thought this would be a good choice for us to see/taste some of the town. She said we would like the atmosphere and we really did. The handcrafted wood and decor was a sight to see in itself...... More

If traveling along I-88 in New York State, take some time to go to Oneonta and eat at the Yellow Deli. My wife and I found the portions and prices to be on par with Panera Bread, only the food at Yellow Deli is much better! I ordered the Long Island Rancher: turkey and chicken slices covered with ranch dressing... More
