Best lunch and dinner option in Sal

For us Geko Gourmet was a real treat of fine cuisine. We mainly tried and enjoyed the different fish and sea-food options, as they offer very fresh catches of the day that they transform into delightful dishes. The wine is also great, well matching with the dish and service is fine. They offer... read more

We chose to go to this restaurant as it was close to the hotel, although it was always pretty empty when we passed it. On the menu was a paella for 2 people, cost 2500Esc. When we asked the waiter if this was per person or per plate he repeatedly told us for the whole plate. Once we got the... More

This restaurant is way beyond expectations for this small island in the Atlantic. The owners and Italian and polish, with their Spanish chef are wasted there. They are all three planning a move to open a restaurant in Barcelona where I have no doubt they will be successful. The food was wonderful and I'm looking forward to hearing where they... More

Had a very nice evening/dinner experience at this restaurant situated in the hotels avenue of Santa Maria. Very nice wine and dry tuna carppacio. Main dishes are very good too. All prepare by a Spanish chef who took the time to chat a bit with us. After all, I found it too expensive comparing to other restaurants in Santa Maria... More

We visitied this place twice during our stay at Cape verde. We noticed the very friendly waiter, but he was new to the job and a bit insecure. The food was okay, but way too expensive compared to other local places. What annoyed me was that the owner and his entourage was too much in the foreground drinking wine and... More

We passed several times this restaurant, and finally decided to give it a try! And what a positive surprise! The team is very friendly, the place is nice and charming, and the wine list offered is also very attractive...you are welcome with a small appetiser, which I did not expect from a restaurant in Santa Maria... But the biggest surprise... More

We were expecting a lot from Geko Gourmet and the experience was not that amazing... It is pretty expensive, specially when compared to all the local restaurants, and food was good but nothing extraordinary (by european standards) Some tasteless St Jacques and pretty dry fish...

Poncy, overpriced place that served me the worst fish dish I have ever eaten and presented us with a very large bill. Don't bother.

We visited for a relaxing glass of wine on the way back from Santa Maria beach and thought this would be the perfect spot given the extensive wine list... Unfortunately, since we only wanted a glass, they didn't have any of the wines on the list they said were available by the glass. So we had the only wine they... More

we decided to go to Geko Gourmet for our 'special dinner' after reading such fantastic reviews on this very site, however the reality was depressingly disappointing. I ordered the calamari to start, then the grilled tuna in a sweet onion sauce, and my friend ordered the semi-cooked tuna. Firstly, the calamari was little more than crisps, my friend also ordered...
