This place has history! The owner, who is often on hand, can tell you some cool stories about the origins of this old tavern that was speak easy run by legs diamond (or something like that). The bar has historic relics on display and the whole place has a feel of walking back in history. The food is pretty good... More

It was slightly odd that on a Wednesday, I was the only person eating here. The pork shoulder was good, the server was pleasant. the Pinto Grigio was tasty. Maybe it's because people passed it by on their way to the riverfront, but I will definitely go here again, The old, ornate wooden bar is wonderful just as decoration... and... More

One of the best restaurants in Newburgh. It is cozy and charming in every way. The owner and staff are always a delight and the food is always great.

My wife and I happened upon the North Plank Road Tavern while staying overnight in Newburgh, after a long day of kayacking the Hudson had built up our appetites. We read some favorable reviews, and I must say, the Tavern did not disappoint. The owner welcomed us as we entered and even gave us a short history of the Tavern... More

The north plank tavern is simply wonderful. My wife and i went for our anniversary dinner and had an amazing meal! I had the hanger steak which was cooked perfectly with a tangy sauce. My wife had the salmon on cedar plank...excellent! We had wine by the glass, very reasonable and dessert all for under $100. Closer to nyc and... More

Newburgh is working hard at revitalization. In the Historic District there is a lineup of restaurants to please practically every taste and that have a river view. Walk along the river before or after but eat at a restaurant that doesn't have a river view but does have very good, freshly prepared food. The North Plank Road Tavern (since 1801... More

My wife and I took a ride upstate and stopped here for dinner. We were early for our reservation but everyone was welcoming. This is one of the finest restaurants we have eaten in, bar none. The appetizers and entrees were all splendid, with subtle tastes and great presentation. It was a slow night, so I cannot say whether it... More

We went to this restaurant expecting a pub-type meal but we got a very fine meal with excellent service. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for outside since it was beautiful out - lovely patio with nice flowers around the periphery. We had the crab bisque which was very tasty. Then we had smoked trout with fingerling... More

Our BnB had recommended this place and boy where they on the money. Better than 95% of the meals I've had in NYC and certainly no more expensive than most. Great, old-school atmosphere as well. My girlfriend and I will be back!
