i have gone there a few times and i really enjoy the food. the food is made fresh and the chicken fajitas are delicious. the service is slow but the food makes up for it. it is a nice casual place to eat.

I decided to come to El Tio on a whim -- just needed something to eat on a Saturday night and I'm so glad I did. Quick service, plenty of food choices and delicious food. Good portions and reasonably priced. I had the enchiladas suizas (chicken) & they were DELICIOUS! They came with guac, sour cream & salsa...and the combination... More

So I've know, el tio restaurant for about 20 years, they started in Port Chester, back then when the food was good and this restaurant was owner operated, when they opened the New Rochelle restaurant we were happy and we started to visit this restaurant, ever since the beginning the service has been super slow so if you go there... If you had to ask to be helped and serviced then it's not a good restaurant. There was no hostess to greet you. Employers had walked right by without acknowledging you. Maybe they were overwhelmed because of the crowd. Finally sat down. No waiter came by to greet us. 15 minutes went by without being acknowledged. Didn't get the free... More

My first impression of the building should have deterred me from stepping into this restaurant but I thought I should give it a try. The chips that were brought to our table were soggy and the dishes and utensils at our table had specks of food on them. The pedestrian food was a disappointment. The only kind thing I can... More

liked the red sangria that is all.. My food was bland and the chicken in salsa verde was so hard could not cut it . Very pricey for horrible food. Will not go back!

The food was flavourful but they skimped on the sour cream and guacamole for the flautas. Seems a shame as the meal was lovely otherwise.

Pure Excellence! I got introduced to quality Mexican food during my time at San Diego State in the early 70’s, and I have spent years traveling the US looking for the outstanding Chile Relleno and Chicken Enchilada combination. I found it at El Tio…repeatedly. I live on the West Coast and the next time I come to NYC, I might... More

Went on Cinco de mayo for lunch. The restaurant was not full but the waiter took our drink order and decided to play with his phone behind the bar for about 10 minutes before bringing our drinks - even the water. The shrimp soup was good but the fajitas al pastor had the taste of curry and weren't pleasant. In... More
