A few weeks ago, I took my wife to the Mohonk Mountain House for brunch. If you haven't been there, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience is not. They don't tell you when you make your reservation to add about 30 - 45 minutes to your estimated travel time for waiting in line to get... More

While staying at the Bear Mountain Inn with 2 friends and former colleagues, we decided to go to The Mohonk Mountain House for lunch, and take a walk around the grounds. When we reached the entrance, we were asked for $21.00 per person to park, 2 miles from the Hotel. We gulped, paid the fee, and walked to the Hotel.... More

The buffets were just awesome with so many choices. And the carving stations had some excellent selections, as well, that changed from meal to meal.

The meals were average to good but nothing great. They were included in our room package but are very pricey if not staying at the resort. (A Sunday lunch buffet is $98 for two people.) Some food, like the waffles at breakfast were very good. Other things, like the bbq chicken at lunch was dry and not very tasty. We... More

We wanted to see this resort as the pictures in brochures are beautiful. We pulled up to the gate and said we were coming for lunch. The charge was $73 per person for the buffet. Considering the price we expected something spectacular, on the contrary, the food was fair at best and we were served along with a bus load... More

For an all-in-one price dining experience, the food was surprisingly good. We ate at the breakfast and lunch buffets, and both offered a variety of food, all fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. Servers were prompt with beverages and clearing plates. Dinner in the formal dining room was delightful, from the diverse menu to the attentive service.

Nothing really wrong with this place, just isn't worth what they charge to eat/stay/hike here and the staff isn't really that well trained in customer service. It's a pretty setting but not as unique as they market it as, especially if you've ever been to the Adirondacks or any of the national parks out west.

Good: desserts, basic greens for salads. Average: side dishes, vegetables. Inedible: many of the entrees. There was pasta with bolognese sauce; the pasta was overcooked and the sauce was over salted. The cost was like fine dining, but this was more like airport dining.

Consistently good food and attentive service in a beautiful atmosphere. Slightly pricey, but in line with other resort restaurants. The high tea is a favorite with us and is a lovely treat on a winter afternoon. My only criticism is that the level of service varies somewhat between the summer and winter months. The additional staff that are hired during... More
