Gomen Kudasai is a small place located in a strip mall in New Paltz, NY. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Our party of four shared edamame, two udon dishes, tempura, and a cold soba noodle plate. The owner even stopped by to demonstrate the proper technique for eating the soba. All of the food was fresh, well-prepared and tasty.... More

I have followed this establishment over two locations and love it every time. The food is fresh, the service is frequently good, and the decor is inspired. I love the Tatsu'tage bento box and appetizer and can't get enough of the Yaki Udon or the Wakame Udon soup. A great place to go for quality Japanese.

Ate lunch here yesterday finally! The ramen was delicious, my husband had udon noodles with egg, plain but he kept saying how good it was. I like a bit more adventure so I had tempura and kimchee (they kindly added some kimchee to a dish that didn't have it in it). The vegetables in the tempura batter were hot, slightly... More

I was so dissapointed in this place. I went for lunch with my daughter had a noodle soup bowl cost 15 dollars not worth it for two soups and two rice balls ( which are only 2 dollars each) basically 28 dollars for two bowls of soup, and mine was bland no flavor, waiter inattentive, horrible service, wont be going... Nowhere in the Hudson Valley will you enjoy a more authentic blend of nouveau and traditional Japanese food made with local and organic ingredients. They even make thier own tofu and miso! One day I received a lesson in the proper slurping of soup dishes.. I don't think I did it too well but I appreciated the genuinely helpful and... More

The nabeyaki udon was fantastic after the hike today. Shared this with my son. My husband ordered the tempura udon and was very happy with his dish as well. We finished the meal with a delicious green tea cake and green tea ice cream. Thank you Youko for your recommendations and hospitality!

The portion of the food is Extremely small, even for the appetite of a skinny Asian lady!! My husband and i spent $50 for a bowl of noodle and a dinner set, but still had to go to another restaurant afterwards. The chef is not Japanese, but the waiters and waitresses are! The ambience created by the live music does... More

Was in for lunch on a hot day. I have loved this restaurant in both locations - and am absolutely thrilled that it has returned. The food is well-prepared and presented, the prices are fair and proportionate, and the service is attentive and friendly. Youko, the hostess with the mostest, greets you and asks what would you like to drink... More

Warm tones great you when you enter this cozy New Paltz eatery. I am wary of Japanese noodle shops because I find that often the food is too salty or too much soy is used. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the varied menu and the freshness of the noodles. Great saki and tea selection as well. Interesting dishes...worth a... More

There are five Asian restaurants in New Paltz. For noodles, soba, udon, or stir-fried, Gomen Kudasai is the absolutely best. They use the freshest as well as appropriately aged sauces and oils. The service is excellent, and the owner is a wonderful woman who will, if you encourage it, talk to yoiu about Japanese cooking, culture or couture at length.
