We arrived for a 7 PM reservation to see the restaurant full. The wait was short, and we were seated. Never having been here before, I noticed the wait staff, all in tuxedos, all very mature professional waiters. I was surprised to find out the there were men who have been working here for over 55 years! They were truly... More

After a day of touring the mansions on the east side of the River we were ready for a quiet dinner spot with a little history and some decent wine. The Ship lantern Inn popped up on TA and proved to be just the ticket. The wine was smooth and the crab bisque was top drawer. The raspberry. duck was... More

WOW. Waiters in tuxedos. Busboys in tuxedos. The owner on site. Five star food and service. Everything perfect. Everybody doing everything to make your visit memorable. Veal chop excellent. Deserts exceptional. Presentation of food excellent. Even the bread is good.

This inn's ambiance is lovely; one feels like maybe they've gone back to the 18th-19th. C. We had very delicious appetizers, the baked clams, best I ever had; and really fresh steamed clams...soo tasty. Veal chops were our choice for an entree, really good, wonderful mashed potatoes which are generous portions and taste "made from scratch'. I love spinach and... More

Our party of six had dinner here last night, and our entire experience was somewhat of a let-down. From the moment my husband and I arrived and entered the bar, the service was slow. There was only one, very overwhelmed, bartender, who although pleasant, was finding it difficult to keep up with the drink orders from both the crowded bar... More

Had my daughter's confirmation celebration here last month. We did the before 6pm price fixe for a party of 14 on a Saturday. I couldn't have asked for better!! The service and food was incredible, we had our own little room (a nice surprise), candlelight everywhere. Everyone in our party raved about it. Our daughter was very happy and we... More

We arrived on a Sunday evening in the area, and asked the manager of our B&B for a dinner recommendation. He suggested Ship Lantern without hesitation. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, were received cordially and promptly, were told five minutes and that's what it was. The place seemed full of regulars, but was a friendly place... We went for restaurant week and were not disappointed. All of our dinners were fantastic, perfectly prepared, and served quickly. Even though it was a busy Friday night, the service was top notch. The decor is everything "ships" and is very relaxing. The fireplace was burning, which added a really nice touch to a cold, fall evening.

Ship Lantern Inn continues to be a classy restaurant. The food is excellent in both taste and presentation. The service impeccable and the atmosphere oldy worldy. We continue to return over the years and have never been disappointed. My only request would be a dress code that does not permit sweatshirts with old jeans. Some of us dress appropriately.

Four of us had dinner here on Friday. They had so many menus available, including two price fixed ones. The service was very good, as was the food. Two of the group had the pork chops and said they were the best they have had. Ordering from the price fixed menu, even with drinks and a bottle of wine, dinner... More
