Best Service and Options

We enjoy many of our annual holidays with the staff at the Ship Lantern Inn. The use local options when possible and offer the best menu from upstate to NYC. Perfect ambiance for a romantic meal with options that will make your mouth water (mine is just remembering my last meal).

My family and I finally ate here after years of hearing a lot of terrific things about this restaurant. Everything more than lived up to our expectations – nothing fell short – though I was surprised by a couple of things. We looked at the menus before going, and all of us agreed that we preferred the food and the... More

Been to the Ship several times and the Food has always been great as the service, went there recently and it appears there is all NEW staff, change, don't know yet, the old waiters are not there or I did not see them and they have a new manager now, a lot of young people working there now, the Steak... Excellent quality food. $$$$ a little expensive. There is an arrogance in the atmosphere that bothered my guest and I while we were there. Although food was good not sure I would go back. Difficult to explain.

This wonderful family restaurant has been serving delicious food for 90 years and it just keeps getting better. The menu features many old favorites and a fair number of less common yet equally delicious dishes. Prices are reasonable, the wine list spectacular and the ambiance is comfortable. A great place to spend a couple of hours or more enjoying good... More

Its been a while since we have been to dinner in a black-tie establishment. The service fit the surroundings. A wood paneled room with gracious service, with a multiple peoplle taking care of us. The restaurant was full but it seemed that the staff works together taking care of all the diners. This was a nice change and food matched... More

What an old fashioned dining experience, Mature waiters in jackets and bow ties toiling away at gueridon tables, flambéing dishes, tossing salads and generally being very flamboyant. The food was good, Appetizer duck leg cassoulet was excellent, Veal chop entree was a bit fatty and could have been hotter - but very tasty. Creme Brûlée was a bit dense in... More

We were in Ulster County for Valentine's Day Weekend. The owner of the Bed & Breakfast we were staying in recommended this place to us. He said it was approximately 40 minutes away but worth the trip. I vaguely remembered this place from my youth. I believe my father had once taken my brothers and I here. Well, it was... More

Second time there was on Valentines Day. This review is for both experiences. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the service, to the food. The food is brought out promptly and everything is always perfectly cooked. Try the sea bass! you cant go wrong with that. I would move into this place if they would let me.
