I am not quite sure what the criteria is of a 5 start restaurant, but with my experiences at the Ship Lantern Inn....a restaurant would have be exceptional to rate above them...I give them 5 stars....Yes, our dinner this evening was expensive. A few drinks entrée, dessert and the bill was over $148 plus a cash tip for the two... More

We've been to this restaurant many times during our trips upstate, and it never fails to impress. The menu options are endless; we went on a Sunday and were presented with the regular menu, the weekly special menu, the special prix fixe menu, and the daily specials. Everything we've tried has been delicious and well presented; never a bad meal... More

Treated my wife and mother out for dinner. This has been a family favorite for 50 plus years. The staff is excellent. The food quality and presentation is just excellent. The prices can be overwhelming however, they do offer early bird specials that never disappoint us that include an appetizer, salad, entre' and dessert. Unlike the old days when men... More

I have been looking forward to trying the Ship Lantern Inn and finally got the chance to do so. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They offered lovely substitutions for a person in my party who is gluten intolerant. They kept our glasses full and anticipated our needs. The food was high quality and it was... More

We enjoy many of our annual holidays with the staff at the Ship Lantern Inn. The use local options when possible and offer the best menu from upstate to NYC. Perfect ambiance for a romantic meal with options that will make your mouth water (mine is just remembering my last meal).

My family and I finally ate here after years of hearing a lot of terrific things about this restaurant. Everything more than lived up to our expectations – nothing fell short – though I was surprised by a couple of things. We looked at the menus before going, and all of us agreed that we preferred the food and the... More

Been to the Ship several times and the Food has always been great as the service, went there recently and it appears there is all NEW staff, change, don't know yet, the old waiters are not there or I did not see them and they have a new manager now, a lot of young people working there now, the Steak... Excellent quality food. $$$$ a little expensive. There is an arrogance in the atmosphere that bothered my guest and I while we were there. Although food was good not sure I would go back. Difficult to explain.

This wonderful family restaurant has been serving delicious food for 90 years and it just keeps getting better. The menu features many old favorites and a fair number of less common yet equally delicious dishes. Prices are reasonable, the wine list spectacular and the ambiance is comfortable. A great place to spend a couple of hours or more enjoying good... More
