Fine Dining in Chautauqua

We had a great dining experience. We were lucky to get an outside table, especially nice in the warm summer season. The food was great. I can't remember what we ordered, since we were there in July and I'm only writing the review now. But whatever it was, it was great. (I will usually remember the... read more

La Fleur bills itself as a first class French restaurant and they do have some great dishes but the price is out of this world and I personally think it is not worth it. The wait staff is very professional and the presentation of the food quite impressive but overall, its reputation seems overblown to me. I think the appetizers... More

I look forward to dining at La Fleur each time I visit Chautauqua during the season. I loved everything about my visit a few weeks ago. This is the finest restaurant in the area and well worth the experience. Predictably, the restaurant is expensive, but the memories are priceless.

We ate here two times. The first time it was wonderful -Special Martinis, wonderful halibut and great desert. The second time was a disaster. The filet could not be cut with the knife supplied and the lobster was cooked just enough to change color. It was TOUGH. I asked if their visiting cook from New York had gone back home... More

Lovely interior and porch dining. Intelligent wine pairings with the tasting menu. I give it a 4 for two reasons. The wait between courses was too long. And the dessert (a peach crumble) was not warmed, as it should have been. For these prices (and I'm not complaining about prices here; if you don't want to pay top dollar, go... More

Saturday night, we made our fifth annual pilgrimage to this shrine of French gastronomy. We ordered a bottle of Graves, and were presented with their usual amuses bouches of gruyere cheese puffs. These were followed by bread service, which included baguettes, Kalamata olive bread, potato bread with rosemary, and multi-grain, all baked in-house. Although i was tempted by the Hudson... More

We always have a great experience here. It is quite expensive, but consistently delicious. Try the corn soup, the carcuterie, the foie gras, the beet salad...anything. Cocktails are especially fantastic. Always attentive, professional service, too.

Lovely restaurant. The food and wine were wonderful. The wait staff was helpful and very attentive. We were served one of the best meals I've had in a long time (other than what I can do at home).

This is leisurely dining, the kind of place where you should expect to linger over a good meal. Food artfully prepared and beautifully presented, elegantly casual atmosphere, appropriate to the setting in a country house near the lake and Chautauqua Institution. This will be our splurge meal for the group when we return to Chautauqua Institution next year.

My wife an I each had a fish course for our main course. Both were OK, but not memorable. We waited for over an hour to be served. We did not receive either an explanation or an apology. As a French restaurant in a small, remote town in upstate New York, it is better than any other place in the... More
