We were staying at the Chautauqua Institution and were forewarned, brain food was on the menu, not food for gourmets. It was a wonderful surprise to discover this place with its ambiance, excellent service and fantastic food.

Restaurant a little pricey but lunch is more reasonable. The quiche is great. They send a trolley to Chautauqua Institution to pick you up. Nice shopping center next door.

We visit the Mayville / Chautauqua area every summer. For too long a time, area restaurants were so-so to good. La Fleur is a bright spot of fine dining in this area. All the dishes we tried were well proportioned, very flavorful without being over bearing, fresh tasting with a variety of selections. Le Fleur will continue to be on... More

We had a wonderful meal at la Fleur. The beet salad was delicious, the pear and blue cheese tart was exquisite. The veal Tenderloin was excellent, the rack of lamb was a generous portion and very good, and the filet mignon was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the profiteroles for dessert. The atmosphere is comfortable and conducive to conversation. The service... More

Our dinner at this somewhat out of the way establishment south of Mayville, NY was excellent in all respects- just what would would expect of French cuisine. The food - veal, filet mignon, and salmon for our party - was savory; the service, impeccable; the decor, pleasant. Red roses for the ladies was a nice touch as we departed.

There were six in our party. We all had the prix fixe six course "Tasting Menu" ($75 each). Portions for each course were small (6 delicious french fries with the main course), so that one could appreciate the entire meal without feeling too stuffed to enjoy the later courses. (Portions from the a la carte menu are larger.) The food... More

We recently spent a week at the Chautuaqua Institution in Chautauqua NY. Our dinner at La Fleur was the culinary highlight of our trip. The restaurant is located in a lovely brick home that provides elegant yet comfortable surroundings. The wait staff is helpful and professional. However, it is the food that takes center stage here. Each of our four... More

The foie gras appetizer was the BEST! We dined on the porch. Very pleasant. Try the filet steak with green peppercorn sauce. I bought desserts for everyone in honor of our hosts who had their first grandchild. The bill for numerous desserts was only $75. They were tremendous.

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at La Fleur over the July 4th holiday weekend and it was, by far, the best restaurant in the area. The ambiance is lovely, the wait staff professional and courteous, and the food incredible. I loved that it didn't have your typical restaurant bar, which tends to increase the noise level... More

My wife & I went to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere, food, wine, and service were wonderful. We are both light eaters and appreciated the reasonably sized portions of outstanding food (versus the large portions of mediocre food frequently served in restaurants). We started with Kirs - one a Royal and the other with a subtle ginger taste ($11 and... More
