La Coquille strives to offer a comfortable atmosphere where people can come to enjoy each other, as well as the pleasure of foods grown locally and prepared with exacting care. Nothing frozen, no cellophane, no mass-market products. Today, the only place I can think of that even remotely works like my grandfather's kitchen, is our kitchen at La Coquille. We are working with locally-grown produce and meats, and using recipes that are classics, but with a twist, or a new interpretation to keep things interesting.

Classic Feench

My husband and I were here thirty three years ago. Duck a l'orange and onion soup were excellent. Prices are not cheap, but portions were generous.

This local place has been around a long time. The food is OK, not what you would expect for the cost. Don't bother complaining about anything. All you will get is a sneer.

This is a very fine classic French Restaurant. The service is also classic and very good. It is an elegant, small restaurant. I was there for a special birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. I had the pate for an appetizer and the veal with lemon for my main course. For dessert I tried the floating island which was... More

We had always heard great things about this restaurant and are very glad we finally tried it for our 30th anniversary last week. The restaurant itself is very elegant, but small with a relatively quiet and intimate setting. For appetizers, we chose Chicken Liver Pâté and the French onion soup. Both were very good. As the main course, my husband... More

We had a large party, so we had the back room to ourselves. The wait staff was very attentive at all times. The dinner started with crusty French bread and a tomatoe tampade (delicious). The apps were some of the best ever; crabmeat , shrimp, and I had the French onion soup. We had the duck for our main meal,... More

We were very excited to go to La Coquille for our anniversary. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service and the food. It was a Saturday night and we had a reservation. We were seated quickly, but then it took a half hour for the waiter to come to the table. We ordered a cocktail and ordered a soufflé... More

We went to this restaurant for our sixth anniversary, arriving thirty minutes before our reservation time and, though technically not open, received a warm welcome from the maitre de.We remained the only diners until we were finished. We started with Manhattans, which was served with a dish of mashed eggplant, a liver pate, French bread. Our waiter described the specials for the... More

We had made this restaurant our regular go to French place, particularly for their Bastille Day special menu. The food is always very good, we often get the Long Island duck, escargot and whatever seafood dish sounds good that day. The restaurant used to be relatively dark and I guess what some may call cozy. But new management created a... More

In charge of arranging a birthday dinner for an aunt that is particular to french food, I was glad to remember this restaurant since I've driven past it a thousand times and pretty much forgot it was there. the restaurant is dated, but in a good way. it is elegant and refined, but most important, the food was excellent. we... We have had been to this restaurant several times over last 30 years, not recently, though. The ambiance was very good, and the noise level in the back room was low.The lobster bisque and sald were very good. Service was very poor as were our main courses-- garlic roasted shrimps were too tough and the veal was too sweet and over... More
