Il Laghetto is set against beautiful Lake Mahopac, a hidden gem that Mahopacian's hold close to their hearts. The lake is for many the reason why they are here and why they stay. The location is a definite attraction that most flock to in warmer months. Il Laghetto's name is Italian for "little lake". Set on the water, il Laghetto's location makes it ideal for a Seafood focused menu. A Raw Bar with Oyster offerings, Clams, Lobster, Crab and more is open year round. The menu itself is highly focused on fish but don't deny the 16oz Steak Au Poivre. "Specials" are offered weekends and will focus on other meat options as well. Il Laghetto is open all year and we encourage people to see the lake for it's beauty through all seasons

Lovely spot, good food

Over the years we've been to most iterations of this place on the lake. IL menu and vibe skew to the adult side with fish a focus and a somewhat limited choice of pasta for a restaurant with an Italian name. It was a gorgeous day midweek so we arrived early (5:30) so we could sit outside. IL... read more

This restaurant is located on Lake Mahopac literally - with tables dockside a mere few feet away from the water. The lake backdrop makes for a wonderfully relaxing and beautiful dining experience. The wait staff is pleasant and willing to please. The menu is "continental" fare although there is a definite lean towards Italian. The truffle popcorn served is a... More

haha, the show came first. Outdoor seating on a lake for a 6pm dinner, expect the sun (and bring sunglasses). Funny how many tables had the waiters try to block the sun from shinning on their tables - damn comical :) As for the meal, great from appetizer to dessert ! Here's our choices; traditional calamari, crab cakes & shrimp... More

The location cannot be beat - it's beautiful. The service, very accommodating. My favorite dish was changed and I'm not thrilled. The polenta was way too wet/too creamy/too eggy- almost like a custard. I had most of it leftover and thought, it'll harden and then I'll pan fry it. It just turned to mush. Please return to your prior version.... More

Most of the food was quite good. Baby arugala salad was a disappointment. No real flavor besides the greens. A few pieces of cheese and ONE walnut. Really? It's also quite pricey. The fact that you're on the lake helps with the prices. It is quite pretty. Lastly, the service. Terrible. For the prices, we should have had attentive service.... More

This is a nice restaurant on beautiful Lake Mahopac. Window views are plentiful and a private party room is available. Food includes a raw bar and numerous sea food, meat and pasta selections. The wasabee Salmon was nicely done and the wine selections were tasty.

My wife and I and a friend had lunch at Il Laghetto recently. This restaurant has changed owners frequently, and we have eaten there once or twice in the past. Nothing special. My wife noticed that the parking lot was jammed recently, and wanted to try it again. It was a lunch on a weekday, and tables were available outside,... More

We thought we found a perfect gem, beautiful inside and lovely lake view dining outside! I must say that the service was awful, manager or owner was nasty and had to return my lobster omelet because it was either made with egg beaters or microwaved! My daughter ordered same thing, hers was normal, yet bland! Ordered French toast instead, thinking... More

Went to il Laghetto when it first changed ownership and was not impressed. Tried it again a few months later and I was impressed! The Chilean sea bass special was outstanding, as was the stuffed flounder and the filet mignon. My husband said the NY style cheesecake was excellent, but after a bite, I still think my mom's is better!... More

The outdoor seating makes this place special- it overlooks a scenic part of the lake. The staff is efficient and friendly. The food is high quality. This is a nice contrast to the noisy pub on the other side of the lake. The food is almost always good. I've eaten here many times, my only complaint is the ribeye. You... More
