Great spot for a fun evening

Stopped by for a casual dinner. We had been here a while ago and were glad we returned. Service was excellent and we were allowed to pace meal to our wishes. Shared an appetizer and the steak which was cooked a perfect medium rare. Enjoyed the dinner and wine. We then shared a Chocolate Hazelnut Bread Pudding with a Double... More

We had dinner at Alobar while visiting our son in Long Island City. It has a nice relaxed ambiance and is not too noisy. Very comfortable. We started dinner by sharing the Maple Bacon Popcorn. Even though I do not go out to dinner to eat popcorn, I have to admit it was spot on as a summer nibble. We... More

In a search for affordable place outside Manhattan, we were pointed to LIC where we ended up at ALOBAR. I can say only the best for their food and barman is a top expert. Was surprised with Grappa from Malvasia which is pretty endemic for Istria region, but my revelation was Tempelton rye, that was presented by barman. We had... More

We stopped in for their sweet and savory popcorn with bacon. It was absolutely delicious. The beer on tap was also cold and refreshing.

I went to celebrate a friends' birthday and had a very nice experience. We did the prix fixe, so it was $45 a person before tax/tip. All the food was good, but the steak was out of this world. The strawberry rhubarb was also a favorite. The service was a bit slow in the beginning getting our drinks, but aside... More

My boyfriend and I are moving to the neighborhood next month so we wanted to spend the day exploring local eats and shopping. We came to Alobar for Sunday brunch and immediately received a warm welcome from Greg. After hearing we were moving to the area he chatted with us about his experience and how much he likes living there.... More

We had a wonderful meal here in August 2014. Service was friendly and mostly attentive. Everyone in our party of six reported enjoying their entrees. My hanger steak was seasoned to perfection and the portion was generous. Small but excellent wine list with good values to be had. The nitpicks: Chairs are uncomfortable. Cheese appetizers were small for the price... More

My wife and I went w/ a couple who lives in LIC who are regulars and Alobar didnt disappoint. We only had beers and apps but all very good. The bacon popcorn in and of itself worth a visit. Also had duck salami, mussels, fries, gnochi and ribs. Mussels werent huge but certainly adequate. We didnt think the prices high,... More
