Family run nice people. Great fresh sushi. We eat there frequently. Love the soup. Would definitely eat there if you like sushi. Smaller venue so get there early for lunch or dinner. They also have takeout.

From a frequent sushi diner, this was the real deal! Pretty much chosen at random, we stumbled into this place. The fish was fresh, the right temperature, the miso soup wasn't too salty, the staff were very helpful, and Yoshi was great.

"Jiro Loves Sushi" is a documentary about a Japanese man with a passion for sushi. Out of this passion he created one of Japan's most exclusive and expensive sushi restaurants but continues to be in the most unpretentious of locations: a subway station in a Japanese metropolis with seating for only a handful of guests. Yoshi Sushi is not exclusive... More

The only Japanese chef in Albany. During lunch time he works by himself and in the evening his wife joins him. Small restaurant so better make a reservation for large group.

Been here twice and found Yoshi to have the best, freshest sushi around. Off the beaten path and very unassuming but worth the trip. Can't say enough about the quality. If you like sushi and don't care about atmosphere this is the place for you.

Came in for the first time on a Thursday night, just my husband and I. The sushi chef, Yoshi, immediately gave us hot tea. Yan brought water, miso soup, and salad. We had edamame and a few rolls. It was delicious! The eel/avocado roll was ranked best by us, but I very much enjoyed the salmon--rich and fresh. Looking forward... More

We stopped by to pick up some take out for our trip home during a recent trip to the Albany area. The place is in a nondescript strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. There's nothing fancy about the inside, either and it's a bit small. I could see it getting crowded on a weekend evening/ The... More

I try to do lunch at Yoshi's about once a month. Their lunch box special is a great value at approximately $7. It comes with a salad that has the most delicious homemade ginger dressing I've ever had. As others have commented, the Miso soup has plentiful chunks of tofu and is superior to that found at other nearby Japanese... More

This is a wonderful very small family owned sushi bar with a few tables and take out. Yoshi makes some of the best sushi in the Capital District. It is worth seeking out, and the prices are very fair. Their spicy tuna is awesome, and I asked for it with added avocado which was no problem. I have not had... More

Yoshi prepares the most exquisite salmon sashimi; tongue-meltingly delicious - delicately sliced, buttery smooth, always fresh, perfect temperature...oh, I could go on and on! And the David roll, pure yum; salmon, avocado, with eel on top. Their miso soup isn't tepid water, but a flavorful broth with tiny chunks of tofu and tasty wisps of scallions floating about. Yoshi and... More
