Description: The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital...
The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital Region of New York. The Award-winning Executive Chef is from the south of France and one of the owners is French Canadian. Our food is classic French with a Mediterranean twist...Provencal or North African spicing. There are many classic menus items such as Escargot, Frogs Legs, Steak Tartare and Steak Frites. The ambiance is casual. We are a Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant with a 2200 bottle wine cellar with a significant offering of French wines. Our wine bar has an extensive selection of beers and a full bar. Come and dine with us and experience not an eating, but a dining experience.

Tuesday Night dinner

Had the vichyssoise (with asparagus, which detracted from the dish), a walnut watercress salad that was delicious and the wild Icelandic lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the entire dish was seasoned appropriately. The chanterelle mushroom on the dish was fabulous, and I wished that there had... read more

Claire and Sandy Pogue are pulling out all the stops for their tour de France celebration 7/7- 7/25. I had dinner there this evening and had the Salade Bretonne, Soupe d'huitres et de moules safrnee and thre coquilles st jacque because I couldn't decide what to order. The meal was perfect! The soup d'huitres the best soup I've had in... More

Very well prepared French dishes. Delicious loved my meals as did my husband. The portions are reasonable, the prices are a bit high but worth it for the quality of food. The service was fantastic and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Ample parking as well. Wonderful wine selection. If in the mood for French food go here.

Made another dinner foray to The Epicurean in early June, 2015. The menu changes pretty regularly, and this time I noticed a dish under "Chef's Specialties": Veal cheeks baeckeoffe. I remembered an old Julia Child TV episode with Andre Soltner, in which the celebrated chef/owner of Lutece explained that as a child growing up in Alsace his mother (and many... More

Our love affair and friendship with Epicurean Bistro & Wine Bar in Latham, NY began in the Spring of 2012 when a friend suggested we talk to the owners about catering our outdoor wedding that coming June. Within fifteen minutes of being inside Epicurean and talking with owners Claire and Sandy Pogue, our plan quickly morphed into having our wedding... More

It is a such a shame that it took three years of living in the area to discover this restaurant....considering that we are both 'foodies'.....and have been all the way to Glens falls and further to North Creek for restaurants that we like. We are also thankful for all the reviews from the more discerning patrons...for it was based on... More

This is our third time eating here. The food and service has been very good each time. I love their hanger steak as well as their venison dish. It's always been great. Typically a very quite restaurant, great for date night. Yes, it's in a strip mall but you know that before you enter so if that's an issue well...you... More

Three of us patronized the place with great anticipation as we'd heard good things about it. Ambiance was very nice and the owner actually spent time chatting with us after seating. That was the good news. The bad news is that after the appetizer and drinks, it all went down hill from there. I ordered the trout which was so... More

We are located in one of the largest shopping malls in the Capital Region. The beauty of this location is that it is 2 minutes off of two major highways with ample parking and many reasons to not only visit us, but also the large major retailers who are our neighbors. Your behavior and that of your companions, more specifically... More

We ordered a "take out" feast for eleven for Christmas eve dinner which we served on a buffet. Everyone raved. The chef gave us instructions for finishing/heating everything. It made what is normally a very labor intensive day for me, relaxed and simple. The food was fabulous. The mushrooms florentine for appetizer were gobbled up in minutes. Delicious. We had... More
