Description: The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital...
The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital Region of New York. The Award-winning Executive Chef is from the south of France and one of the owners is French Canadian. Our food is classic French with a Mediterranean twist...Provencal or North African spicing. There are many classic menus items such as Escargot, Frogs Legs, Steak Tartare and Steak Frites. The ambiance is casual. We are a Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant with a 2200 bottle wine cellar with a significant offering of French wines. Our wine bar has an extensive selection of beers and a full bar. Come and dine with us and experience not an eating, but a dining experience.

Tuesday Night dinner

Had the vichyssoise (with asparagus, which detracted from the dish), a walnut watercress salad that was delicious and the wild Icelandic lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the entire dish was seasoned appropriately. The chanterelle mushroom on the dish was fabulous, and I wished that there had... read more

It is a such a shame that it took three years of living in the area to discover this restaurant....considering that we are both 'foodies'.....and have been all the way to Glens falls and further to North Creek for restaurants that we like. We are also thankful for all the reviews from the more discerning patrons...for it was based on... More

This is our third time eating here. The food and service has been very good each time. I love their hanger steak as well as their venison dish. It's always been great. Typically a very quite restaurant, great for date night. Yes, it's in a strip mall but you know that before you enter so if that's an issue well...you... More

Thank you again for your comments. We apologize profusely that you had to be subjected to that threesome's antics. The next time you dine with us, please identify yourselves as we would like to offer you a bottle of wine in appreciation for giving this unfortunate situation some perspective. More

Three of us patronized the place with great anticipation as we'd heard good things about it. Ambiance was very nice and the owner actually spent time chatting with us after seating. That was the good news. The bad news is that after the appetizer and drinks, it all went down hill from there. I ordered the trout which was so... More

We are located in one of the largest shopping malls in the Capital Region. The beauty of this location is that it is 2 minutes off of two major highways with ample parking and many reasons to not only visit us, but also the large major retailers who are our neighbors. Your behavior and that of your companions, more specifically... More

We ordered a "take out" feast for eleven for Christmas eve dinner which we served on a buffet. Everyone raved. The chef gave us instructions for finishing/heating everything. It made what is normally a very labor intensive day for me, relaxed and simple. The food was fabulous. The mushrooms florentine for appetizer were gobbled up in minutes. Delicious. We had... More

Why visit France when you can come here and have the same culinary experience? My wife and I came here for a special tasting menu with specially selected and perfectly paired wines. The menu was carefully put together cooked with fantastic care and precision. It was a four course tasting with four unique French wines. The service was excellent and... More

We are very glad you enjoyed our special monthly winemaker's dinner. It is a great way to learn about food and wine pairing from the specialists from a region of France or a particular vineyard. On occasion, we also travel to other parts of the world to explore the different terroirs and styles. Our goal is to introduce our customers... More

my wife and I met some friends there, we arrived early. Never been, will never return. We sat at the bar, and were served by Megan(great server sweet), actually spoke with the owner who seemed ok. Two drinks, a 'sniff' of calamari 40bucks. But, ok I thought. Friends arrived, I reminded the person at the desk of our opentable reservation.... More

We have been in business for 10 years and we are a very unique restaurant where many menu offerings are unique to us. We really enjoyed the Winemakers dinner here a few weeks ago. Both the wine and the food were excellent. Each wine was quality and also not your average wine. Each dish was very good although they could be a little more generous with the amount of food. Very enjoyable will do again at $75 reasonable for what they did. A... More

Thank you for joining us at this Winemaker's Dinner. They are great experiences both from an educational perspective, as well as the pairing of food and wine as we bring specialists from the vineyards or regions featured in the dinners. We have been to Epicurean numerous times. Last weekday evening, we had friendly and efficient service. The Calamari appetizer was succulent and tender (NOT chewy); my husband said probably the best he has ever had and the Charcuterie plate (homemade pate, meats, cornichons) was enjoyable. For dinner, we had the Curry Mussels and Pan Seared Pork Tenderloin (with apples). Both... More
