Description: The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital...
The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital Region of New York. The Award-winning Executive Chef is from the south of France and one of the owners is French Canadian. Our food is classic French with a Mediterranean twist...Provencal or North African spicing. There are many classic menus items such as Escargot, Frogs Legs, Steak Tartare and Steak Frites. The ambiance is casual. We are a Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant with a 2200 bottle wine cellar with a significant offering of French wines. Our wine bar has an extensive selection of beers and a full bar. Come and dine with us and experience not an eating, but a dining experience.

We ordered a "take out" feast for eleven for Christmas eve dinner which we served on a buffet. Everyone raved. The chef gave us instructions for finishing/heating everything. It made what is normally a very labor intensive day for me, relaxed and simple. The food was fabulous. The mushrooms florentine for appetizer were gobbled up in minutes. Delicious. We had... More

Why visit France when you can come here and have the same culinary experience? My wife and I came here for a special tasting menu with specially selected and perfectly paired wines. The menu was carefully put together cooked with fantastic care and precision. It was a four course tasting with four unique French wines. The service was excellent and... More

We are very glad you enjoyed our special monthly winemaker's dinner. It is a great way to learn about food and wine pairing from the specialists from a region of France or a particular vineyard. On occasion, we also travel to other parts of the world to explore the different terroirs and styles. Our goal is to introduce our customers... More

my wife and I met some friends there, we arrived early. Never been, will never return. We sat at the bar, and were served by Megan(great server sweet), actually spoke with the owner who seemed ok. Two drinks, a 'sniff' of calamari 40bucks. But, ok I thought. Friends arrived, I reminded the person at the desk of our opentable reservation.... More

We have been in business for 10 years and we are a very unique restaurant where many menu offerings are unique to us. Our location in one of the most heavily trafficked shopping plazas in the Capital Region with quick exits off of two major highways for easy access to shopping and dining. Our award-winning French Chef does cook food... More

We really enjoyed the Winemakers dinner here a few weeks ago. Both the wine and the food were excellent. Each wine was quality and also not your average wine. Each dish was very good although they could be a little more generous with the amount of food. Very enjoyable will do again at $75 reasonable for what they did. A... More

Thank you for joining us at this Winemaker's Dinner. They are great experiences both from an educational perspective, as well as the pairing of food and wine as we bring specialists from the vineyards or regions featured in the dinners. These 4-course dinners truly give you the opportunity to open up your taste buds to a wealth of new flavors... More

We have been to Epicurean numerous times. Last weekday evening, we had friendly and efficient service. The Calamari appetizer was succulent and tender (NOT chewy); my husband said probably the best he has ever had and the Charcuterie plate (homemade pate, meats, cornichons) was enjoyable. For dinner, we had the Curry Mussels and Pan Seared Pork Tenderloin (with apples). Both... More

My husband and I visited the epicurean last night (Tuesday, September 16th) for dinner. We were presented with a groupon from my sister several months earlier and it expired on the 18th so we wanted to try it out. I am not a big fan of groupons at nicer restaurants but my sister was excited for us to use it.... More

Thank you for coming to our restaurant. As we are French, we may do some things that are not what might be considered the norm to some Americans. We use clear plastic sleeves for our Prix Fixe menus (the same menus are available when we do an occasional Groupon) as they are a limited number of items that can change... More

We tried this restaurant for the first time, were seated immediately and the waiter was attentive. The appetizers and entrees were good, good wine, but disappointing dessert, chocolate bread pudding, was dry and rather bland. I had finished only half my entree purposely saving room for dessert and the entree for next days lunch. The waiter took the entree to... More

We are extremely sorry for your server's lack of judgement. The fact that he handled your situation with so little imagination and respect is unacceptable. No matter how much you train, you can never underestimate what people will do! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If you decide to come back, please let me know and we will... More

A physican friend invited me to this European place in a Strip Mall. Dont let the enviorns fool you, the waiter was right out of a French movie who acted with disdain when we did not order quickly enough and dismissed the questioning of the wine as if we are insane. If you want a genuine French waiter who will... More

I don't think I have had such a disappointing dining experience, as being a french major who felt horrified and insulted to know the people of France, who take food to be an art, are being dubbed by The Epicurean Bistro & Wine Bar (they are probably making ends meet by marketing the Wine Bar part). The place is a... More

The teas are Harney Teas, recognized as some of the best tea in the world that we serve and can by purchased at retail and available only in the best restaurants and gourmet shops. The plastic chickens are ceramic roosters created in Italy, and they are the symbol of France. The plastic flowers are made of silk. More
