First brought tea, never said a word. Took order after while. Then my meat dish arrived. Several minutes later we each got a small bowl of... More

Owner-operated. Skilled chefs. Unique ingredients. Careful preparations. Very Authentic. Having worked many years in Hong Kong and China, Ala Shanghai beats most of the high priced restaurants in those areas. Mgmt works with customers to make dinner personal, whether experienced connoisseur of Chinese regional cuisine or used to corner take-out. I want their soup dumplings to be my last meal... More

As someone who has grown up eating Chinese food in different cities throughout China, I can say - with complete confidence - that Ala Shanghai is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to in the United States. Their koufu (wheat gluten with mushrooms, peanuts, coriander and cinnamon) is spectacular. Additionally, Ala Shanghai is perhaps the only decent... More

Not including the tip with the meal charges is something that we prefer. When we left the restaurant my friend and I chatted in the parking lot for a few minutes. The manager... More

It is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in America. Try the Claypot Chestnut Chicken, Xiao Long Bao and 水煮牛肉 Spicy Beef.

The menu looks familiar, but do not expect greasy take-out quality. This food is fresh and REAL. This is what Chinese food is supposed to taste like! Everything we had was delicious and we were full for the rest of the day. Soup dumplings are amazing! Be aware that the food is family-style, so order something to share and get... More
