Ala Shanghai is as good as it gets. We have been coming here for several years. This is not your typical Pu-Pu platter menu, but exquisite and authentic Chinese food. Our favorite thing here is to try new and unfamiliar dishes along with our favorites. So, for example, the other night we tried a vegetarian "sausage" dish (tofu) and an... More

This is a Chinese restaurant unlike any other in the area. We reserved a round table for 8 with a lazy Susan to help us share the amazing dishes we would order. We decided on 4 main dishes and 4 pre- dinner dishes of dim sum and appetizers. Starters were Scallion pancakes, Pork dumplings, 2 orders of Steamed vegetable dumplings.... More

But to be honest, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Yeah, it's good, but it's just Chinese food. There's nothing special or spectacular about it. Maybe I just caught them on an 'off' night, because I trust the opinions of those friends and family who have told me I'll love it. I will go again and report... More

We had our New Years Eve dinner with friends at this restaurant. There were 9 of us, so they put us at a great round table with a big lazy susan in the middle. We ordered a whole bunch of apps & a few main courses all at once and put them on the lazy susan. Everyone shared everything &... More

Far and away the best Chinese in the Albany area. Been going for years and never disappoints. Authentic cuisine, not the usual Americanized garbage that pervades local Asian restaurants. We will often go and get all new dishes and it we are always thrilled with what appears. Owners, Lenny and Connie are most hospitable. Love at first bite!!!

I took my spouse here for dinner, and we liked it so much, we came back for lunch the next day! The food is great. My husband had the pork belly dish and was raving about it. The dumplings are so much fun to eat and I loved the soup dumplings. The service was the perfect amount of attentive and... More

This is some of the best Chinese food that I have eaten. The restaurant had a line at 6:30 when we arrived and the line was constant. It is not a great atmosphere - but the food is so good. There were so many vegan options! But some of the dishes under "Vegetables" had pork in them. You could ask... More

I stopped for a quick bite after work and picked a few items off the sim sum menu and it all rocked! The soup dumplings were the best I've ever had and the prices we're beyond reasonable.

This is not a fancy restaurant, bu any means. But the food is authentic and fresh and I have not had better in the Albany area.
