Valentine's Day disappointment

What a shame. We were overcharged for a fix menu. We did not even have everything they included in that menu but we had to pay for it. Besides that, we were charged an extra $15 (price adjustments) + $10 for plain pasta for my 3 years old just because it was Valentine's Day. We will definitely not... read more

We can walk to Plates from our house and have visited several times. The food is good. The ambience is good. It's just not great. I wish it was. Instead I find it sort of "hit or miss". They lack the consistency a really great restaurant should have. They've had a truffled ricotta appetizer in the past that was truly... More

Plates is a good bet anytime of day. Dinners are great, lunches are even better and the commuter special keeps bringing me back in. its half price drinks and apps until 7 so the hungry and thirsty masses can itch that hard to reach spot before heading home. the service is always top notch and the owner, who is also... We have eaten at Plates, several times. The best part of Plates is the food. The menu boasts great organic and locally grown ingredients. There are always interesting specials.they list the local farms where the beef, pork, chicken, originated. There are plenty of vegetarian meals. Even the pastas are very good. Everything, across the board, is gourmet. Servings are plentiful.the... More

Excellent, good quality, and good tasting food. A lot of their meats and produce are organic and sourced locally. As I try to eat organic at home as much as possible I am happy to have the chance to do so as well when I eat out. (some places make you wonder where they get their meats from, and I... More

Enjoyed our time here for dinner. Service was professional, not necessarily friendly, though (except for the guy who took my reservation over the phone: he was very friendly and professional). It is a small restaurant. Reservations recommended unless you come at an off hour. Cozy, romantic space. Affluent-appearing clientele. The food was good and well-flavored. I enjoyed the duck, pork... Larchmont, NY, home of the $700,000 starter house, is probably the last place you'd expect to find excellent, all-you-can-eat barbecue. So much for conventional thinking. The Sunday night special at Plates is a major draw but the ample, diverse menu offers much more. The contrarian among the carnivores, I opted for the swordfish, a fine choice. The atmosphere is cozy... More

Plates located in Larchmont on Myrtle boulevard across from Larchmont train station . The restaurant is small and cozy and definitely has repeat customers. We go there mostly during the summer ( they have a great bottomless barbecue menu which my husband and kids love). We decided to go and check it out without the kids. We started with two... More

We went on a weekend night and the atmosphere is terrific--small, cozy, busy, but intimate for a couple and expansive for a large table. I had the duck, which was to die for. Best I'd ever had, and done with finesse, and originality. Matthew Karp is a five star chef.

Although it has a first rate reputation we found our last meal at Plates to be only satisfactory. The menu is somewhat limited in the choices offered.
