This ice cream parlour - Rwanda's first-ever - was created through a partnership between the owners of an American ice cream business - Blue Marble Ice Cream - a group of women in Butare. While it is a for-profit enterprise, it was developed as a women's economic empowerment initiative. The ice cream is made on-site with local milk, sugar and other ingredients. And it's delicious! Good soft ice and a nice variety of toppings as well. On the menu they mention a lot of flavors, but there are only two available per day, so don't weep when you can't try out the passion fruit! Staff was very friendly and helpful aside from the communication difficulties.

I wanted to love this place. Rwanda is not good at ice cream and this place got crazy amazing reviews. Then their ice cream machine broke and they were out of ice cream for months. Finally, I went back with some visitors, ready for ice cream bliss. And it just wasn't. They only have 2 flavors a day. When I... More

Alright, we weren't exactly being very adventurous, taking a simple cup of coffee, a pot of African tea and some home-made biscuits, when there is so much more - including the famous home-made ice cream - on offer. But what we got was fine, service was laboured but friendly enough, and the prices were reasonable. It's clearly head and shoulders above... More

We drank a milkshake and an ice coffee, both very nice. We also recommend the banana cake, which was delicious.

I have so many happy memories from this wonderful coffee and icecream shop. The staff were beautifal, the coffee was amazing, the food perfect. I can't wait to visit it again - Marakoze Cyane.

We went to Inzozi Nziza after having seen a documentary about the female drum-group that started the business. The staff was very friendly, but the orders took some time to get to us. Even so it was a good experience for us.

I'd walked past Inzozi Nziza several times before rainy season finally presented me with a day warm enough to sample to delights of its interior. And how delightful they were, indeed! I ordered a medium cinnamon ice-cream and was told that there was a deal on, so could have the ice-cream in a coffee for just 300 francs more! A... More

Enjoyed our ice cream here with three friends from the awesome Discover Rwanda Youth Hostel - Kigali. We didn't have time to stay for the food but am sure it would be great Will come back again and recommend to others!

This is believed to be the only soft serve ice cream stand in all of Rwanda. but like many technological advancements in Rwanda, the machine only works a couple days a week. In Rwanda you will get use to the phrase, "we sent someone to Kigali to get the part"
