From his tiny kitchen, the chef cooks every meal to order and works wonders with locally sourced ingredients year round . He also made most of the rustic birch bark furniture himself. The walls are covered in eclectic art and collectibles. There is an abundance of talent here but it's a very personal vision. Go with the flow, eat what he... More

Our Lake Placid visits would not be complete without dining at the Paradox. Our evening starts with a glass of wine, sitting at the bar and watching Red (the owner) preparing food for his guests. This is particulariy entertaining for us as we enjoy visiting with Red in addition to observing his creativity with food. Not only do the dinners... More

Dining at the Paradox Lodge is a special experience. There are not many restaurants that offer every item made to order with exceptionally fresh ingredients. I have an adventurous palate and decided to try the Elk Loin finished with a lingonberry sauce and served with a beautiful vegetable medley. Outstanding! The service was attentive and the atmosphere quaint and relaxing.... More

Simply wonderful. My wife and I frequent The Paradox Lodge on "special occasions". This is the place to go and most incredible food in The Adirondack Region. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting. The staff really take care of you and the food is served immediately, no "heat bulbs" here. If you are looking for a truly memorable experience, an... More

We had a fancy, family dinner with the in laws here. The food was very good. The atmosphere so so. It is like a weirdly decorated living room. Part weird, part Adirondack. The food is very good, but not creative enough for a place like this. When we went, there were no vegetarian options and it was very heavy. What... More

First of all we would like to thank your partner’s family for choosing Paradox Lodge for a special birthday celebration last October. Second, we would like to thank you for your repeated compliments that our food is very good. The style of our restaurant is French, and you are correct in that we do not feature any vegetarian items on... More

The restaurant is small and fun. There is a constant banter going on between the patrons and the chef. The kitchen is open to the eating area and the whole operation is part of the atmosphere. It is different with all sorts of Lake Placid memorabilia posted everywhere. Lots of cool stuff to look at. To me, the picture of... More

Wow! That is impressive: a review written that very same night and then posted the following day! Thank you for the wonderful compliment of our food as a “tasty home-cooked meal.” Restaurants strive for this compliment from people – (especially if it were to happen to come from a food critic) – as it means that the meal was full... Had a fabulous meal and even better experience at Paradox! Chef Red was funny and can a sat with us to discuss the food and techniques he used that evening. Being a huge foodie I always try to find places with unique food and atmosphere and this place fits the bill. Dont miss this gem in LP!

If you are a foodie, or just love a great place to eat, you gotta try this place. The place is the bottom floor of a B&B and only seats 20 per night. Feel lucky if you get in. The chef & owner is not only a great cook, but one hell of a host as well. His wife is... More

Took my parents here to celebrate their 60th birthdays and wanted to give them a special treat. All of the reviews we read on TA were great so expectations were high. The restaurant itself is very warm and the antiques were a nice touch. Service was very good as well. The best part of the meal were the soups and... More

This took a little research going back to October, the review having been written four months after the meal isn’t exactly what is considered timely, but we were able to locate the order and guest check. Both parents ordered the rib eye steak - Australian grass fed beef. Each steak is butchered by the chef who has been handling meat... More

I avoided the hubbub of valentine's day by taking my bride to be Lake Placid for the weekend, and to dinner at the Paradox Lodge on Friday night. We started with the warm goat cheese salad and the lobster bisque. The salad was so large it would have been enough for my main course. Both appetizers were great, with a... More
