We ate here in July 2014. A party of eight. Two liked the food, two thought it was okay, others were very disappointed. I barely touched my food. The menu was pretty limited as far as Mexican food. They did have some bbq which didn't fit in at all and of course some wings (which makes no sense in a... More

I take full responsibility for taking our group (six) to this restaurant. From the get go, the service was subpar. Sign on the door that says, "THIS IS A CELLPHONE FREE RESTAURANT." I agree that I don't want to hear the persons conversation next to me, but just tell that one person. Don't put up a big sign like we... More

Best Mexican restaurant I have eaten at, in a very long time. Food and service were very good. I recommend this place to anyone traveling through Lake Placid, NY.

Stayed nearby and looked for a place for supper. Three people had three different meals. All were good with good portions and friendly staff. Would eat there again.

The restaurant and staff were good. It seems like they have many regulars. However, the food was tasteless and over cooked. They give large portions but you won't want to finish them. I hate giving bad reviews, but the food is not appealing.

A group of us go to Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, NY several times a year........and there are places that are 'a must' for us. Desperados WAS one on this list. A fun place with great drinks/food. However.....we were instantly faced with a sign saying no separate checks. Usually this is not an issue..........and we are all decent tippers.....so it... More

I can't even comment on the food because we didn't get that far. The host was such a jerk we didn't stick around to find out. We arrived at dinner hour on Cinco de Mayo so we knew it would be busy and we were prepared for a wait. The bar was crowded and people were waiting on benches in... More

it is a Irish owned Mexican restaurant, that pretty much sums it up. the food over priced and is terrible service is substandard and the location is a gas station. you would be safer getting a sandwich from the gas station. or if you wanted a family meal head across the street to Howard Johnson.

In the Adirondacks there are not so many people year round so you have to stand out without overreaching. Of course that is easier in a Mexican Restaurant where simple fare and reasonable prices are always expected. Desperados does not dissapoint. We had a varied menu of simple to more elaborate items and they all were very good. Chips were... More

I have been here a few times and the food gets better and better. I stopped in few lunch with a few co-workers and we great fun and really great food. The hot sauces are really good and flavorful. I think they were a little under staffed and they should served more than one basket of chips for 5 people... More
