We have been to Desparados twice in the last month and both times had cold food. Ordered a Chimi "deep fried" and both times it has been served "baked". Food servers in the back are seen not wearing gloves and handling food. Probably won't visit this restaurant again. We are locals and have dined here often.

Every year for the past 4 the kids have begged to go back to this place (an Irish Mexican resturaunt). They love mexican food - OK tacos and queso dip, they love this place and I have to keep talking them out of trying the Leprechaun sauce (you need to sign a waiver - WOO!). I think the food is... Desperados, or as the locals say "Despos" is my absolute favorite place to eat when visiting Lake Placid. The margaritas are THE BEST, the bartender is always social, and the food... Let's just say it's something I am ALWAYS craving. Desperados has family friendly environment, but is also a great place to meet with old friends. I tend to enjoy... More

Best mexican food in town. Every time I visit my family comes here. Lake Placid would not be the same without despos, a true local favorite. The Casa Rola is a must try, and the specials never disappoint.

We both liked our meal here- very tasty Mexican style food with a variety of hot sauces at the table. Complimentary chips and salsa as you browse the menu. I have a big appetite, so even though the description said it was for very hungry people, I could have easily eaten more. I would go again.

Don't go by these trip advisor ratings. Despo's is a true locals favorite and it's not the be missed while in Lake Placid. No reservations taken. First come, first serve as many restaurants in this town. If you have a group, plan to show up earlier than you would want to eat. Plan on having a margarita while you wait.... More

they make a really good margarita, but I waited about 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. at least 3 people were behind the bar and just glanced at me. granted, I was covered in mud, but in lake place you would think that they would see hikers frequently and disregard appearance. I finally snagged a waiter walking by and he... More

My 13 year old son's favorite find. He would have eaten every meal there. Friendly and casual. Good portions. Black beans were delicious. My daughter really liked her burrito. My chicken enchilada was great.

Was okay, food good, but kind of sold ala carte. So we didn't have any sides with hour meal. The Chimichunga was good, but had to ask for salsa and sour cream. Drinks were good.

We ate here in July 2014. A party of eight. Two liked the food, two thought it was okay, others were very disappointed. I barely touched my food. The menu was pretty limited as far as Mexican food. They did have some bbq which didn't fit in at all and of course some wings (which makes no sense in a... More
