Last Friday night we went to DESPOS, which we usually love. The food and service is usually fine and the whole family loves the food. But I watched one server who has worked there for several years pick up a chip and dip it into the salsa they serve to customers. I watched her do it several times. It made... More

I worked at this restaurant for several years and I still go there with my wife and friends monthly(VERY often for us). Everything is HAND made FRESH DAILY, from the chips and salsa, to the quacamole, even the sauces are hand made... The wings, half chicken, and ribs are smoked on site. Out of the 4 restaurants I've worked, it... More

We had the spicy chicken chimichanga. It was very good. Large portions plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Would definitely dine again when visiting the area.

Guacamole -- no taste. Chile rellenos -- cheese melted but chile almost raw. Refired beans -- dry. Not too much good Mexican food here at all. Dom't bother. Good news is that white wine was only $6/glass. Need a lot to wash down the disappointing food.

Not your typically Mexican restaurant. The food was good and had a novel selection, but again if you're looking for typical Mexican this isn't the place. The food was a bit in the higher side with quesadillas starting at $14. Portions are big, but still pricey. The service was friendly and food came out quick as well. I'd go back... More

We can do gluten-free Mexican. We just need some understanding and cooperation. My server, Heather, was happy to check with the chef when I had a question. I chose from the Appetizers menu; shrimp skewers and the Bontano de Frijolitos for my main course. I know Mexican can be a real ordeal because everything is wrapped in a flour tortilla.... More

Excellent Mexican fare (Gringo items too) in a casual atmosphere. Many great selections from the well stocked bar as well. This restaurant is a favorite haunt of locals as well as tourists visiting the Olympic Village. This was a favorite of ours when we lived in nearby Saranac Lake and a must stop whenever we come back to this area... More

We usually visit the town of Lake Placid annually in September. We enjoy a delicious meal as a reward after several days of backpacking in the High Peak region. This past weekend was so crowded on main street (due to unseasonably warm weather). We were hoping to park right on main street in front of the restaurant of choice so... More

I go to Desperados or "Despos" all the time it's amazing food always hot and the portions are huge, the service is amazing and they treat you like family there. The atmosphere in there is so warming and welcoming. I recommend this place to anyone in the area because it's one of the best restaurants in the world. Try the... More

We have been to Desparados twice in the last month and both times had cold food. Ordered a Chimi "deep fried" and both times it has been served "baked". Food servers in the back are seen not wearing gloves and handling food. Probably won't visit this restaurant again. We are locals and have dined here often.
