Great Food, But Needs A Clean Up

My husband & I had breakfast there a couple of times when visiting Lake Placid. I have no complaints about the food. I had the “red neck eggs benedict” and loved it. Hubs had the “big breakfast” and loved it too. However – this place is in major need of a clean up and a coat of paint, etc. Don’t... read more

You need to read the historic sign to put this restaurant into context. The service was very good as was the food. We are are iced tea fanatics so only ice brewed is acceptable and their was 'premix' run through the soda machine. They replaced the tea with soda at no charge. Spinach salad, gyro wrap, Reuben and burger were... More

Went here for the breakfast buffet. Numerous foods included. For the price, this place is a great deal. Waitresses are very attentive. Definitely would say this is the place to stop for a good/cheap meal.

I so disliked my meal that I cannot recommend this location to anyone! How can any restaurant destroy "fish and chips?" This location did! 4 pieces of fish apparently cooked from frozen, with no taste, for $13.95? http://lakeplacidhojos.com/menu The soup appetizer was not available (no deduction on the bill). No dinner roll, as was advertised (no deduction on the bill).... More

My now husband and I started going to HOJO's in Lake Placid when we were college students on a budget, we loved it then. So on a recent trip through the are we stoped as a family on a budget, its nice to know somethings stay the same.....the food was good, comfortable restaurant, very kid friendly and they still give... First things first -- this is not the Howard Johnson's you remember. Yes, they have the orange roof and the classic sign and the old Chevy out front, but once you are inside, you quickly realize that's where the nostalgia ends. The chain has pretty much wound up at this point, and inside you won't find a Howard Johnson's menu... More

The food was average and priced a bit higher than it probably should be. I waited a long time for a refill before I could finish my food.

Arrived at about 7pm went in and waited to be seated.. A couple standing in front of us waiting to be seated had been standing there for a little over 5 minutes when they finally saw an employee (waitress) they asked if they could be seated the waitress then proceeded to say "when I have a minute to clean a... If you're looking for high class or concerned about the aesthetics of your dining establishment, don't turn off Saranac Ave. If you're looking for nostalgia, a piece of Americana, and a good breakfast -- take the time to stop at one of the last Howard Johnson's in the country. Visually you walk into the 1970's. The wait staff, though friendly,... More
