Brown Dog is our favorite place to eat in Lake Placid. Food is fresh, service impeccable and their new building is open and inviting.

The food and atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. My husband and I had reservations for a table with a lake view. We did get a lake view table, but it was right by a noisy air conditioning. The windows all had spider webs and working spiders, so that totally distracted from the lake view. More importantly, the food... More

This was our first visit to the Brown Dog in their new location, which I understand they have been at for 18 months. At first we were very impressed, greeted and seated at a window table with an amazing view. Waited quite awhile for server, place was not busy at all. She finally came and asked if we were ready... Lets clear up some fallacy and untruths. You told your server you LOVED your Filet Mignon, but now you don't, when writing a review? It was Labor Day weekend, and yes, we were busy. Servers do not just walk up to a table and ask them if they are "ready to order". They bring water, discuss the menu, answer any... More

My husband and I just finished dinner at The Brown Dog. From start to finish it could not of been any lovelier! The decor is beautiful, the view of the Lake and mountains in the background were breathtaking. Great wine list, well thought out. We had the lobster bisque with just the right amount of sherry. Dinner was superb we... More

After considering different restaurants we chose this one as it had the most appetizing menu and was close to our hotel. The decoration was quite charming. The food was very good (I had a hard time making a choice as everything looked delicious) and the portions were big. Would go back!

I felt like they had forgotten us to begin with. No drinks while waiting in the comfortable chairs at front. But redeemed with a freebie at the tabke. Good views and good food.

I hate writing anything but great reviews and this place is nicely decorated with great views of Mirror Lake in the main dining room and had great chardonnay and prosecco. But in a dining room where we doubled the clientele when we walked in, I would have expected exceptional service and attention. Sadly that was not the case. It started... More

The wine list if voluminous and the food is very good. This restaurant is now my go-to place in Lake Placid. I have had very good meals there the last three visits at different times of the year from high season to ghostown season. We had an absolutely astounding Lobster Nachos with big bits of real lobster in a decadent... More

Following some excellent and good reviews online, we went for a lunch in this place at a sunny Saturday noon. This was a huge mistake. The place has an excellent view for the lake, and we got a great table by the windows. And that was it. The place was fairly empty for a busy Saturday, and we noticed that... More

On a recent visit to Lake Placid, a friend and I decided to stop into the Brown Dog for a late lunch. We waited a short time for a table on the window, which really is the draw of the dining room. This place has a beautiful view of Mirror Lake, and since the weather was a bit unpredictable the... More
