Our best meal in Lake Placid!

We had dinner here twice this past week and enjoyed our dinners tremendously. We hadn't had much luck in Lake Placid with dining out. It is deceiving from the outside, it looks small. Once you go in it is warm and has a breathtaking view of Mirror Lake. Our waitress remembered us from the following... read more

Me and my boyfriend Will were coming to lake placid for the weekend and weren't sure what to do for valentines day. We asked the concierge at our hotel the whitface lodge to recommend a romantic but cozy restaurant with really great food above all else. She told us about the brown dog and made a reservation for us. After... More

Lake Placid is a village where at times it seems there are more restaurants than there are people. It can be easy to gloss over certain restaurants due to the sheer volume. My wife and I stayed at the Haus hotel which overlooks Mirror Lake, and is conveniently located next to the movie theatre, and some attractive dining options. However... More

We looked forward to a nice evening; it started out with a rather disorganized bartender who was of very little help with wine selection. We opted for two single glasses instead of a bottle. Our table was not ready so we had an appetizer at the bar. The circus began here. We watched many people come in for dinner with... More

My wife and I have been to Lake Placide sevral times and upon the recommendation of a friend we decided to give the Brown Dog Cafe & Wine Bar a try. The restaurant sits beautifuly overlooking Mirror Lake. Our waitress was attentive and apologetic for the problems in the kitchen we were to experience that night. We ordered our food... More

We walked into this restaurant intending to try it for dinner. We were rudely told that dinner wouldn't be served for eleven minutes and told to wait. The hostess walked away after that leaving us standing in a lovely and inviting bar area so we sat down to order a drink among a crowd of others apparently waiting to be... More

My wife and I were looking for a local place that had warming food. We saw the sing outside that said French onion soup and wine, we were sold. At first it did not look like anything special but in the back there is a great view of mirror lake. The wine list is longer then the menu, which is... More

In a sea of fast food type restaurants, we found The Brown Dog! Thank Heavens! When you walk in you are immediately transformed to Rue Jacob!I felt as if I was in a flea market in France, turns out I was. One of the owners is an artist and I left with a art deco french mirror. We had dinner at... More

We went hoping for a nice meal while on vacation and we got anything but. His meal was okay at best the potatoes were cold and the steak was over cooked. My meal was terrible. No saving grace here. The pork was over cooked the au jus that was served with it tasted horrible. The scalloped potatoes were several days... More
