Great view of mirror lake & good food

Arrived early to get a table near the window/lake. Turns out it was s quiet Sunday night do arriving early wasn't really necessary. House salad was phenomenal. Moules mariniere were good. The filet mignon topped w Gorgonzola was delicious but slightly overcooked. Very fast and efficient service.

What a surprise! A nice wine bar upfront with a great restaurant in the rear overlooking Mirror Lake. The ambiance is comfortable and the food is wonderful. Make sure you make reservations. The Saturday evening we were there, the room filled up quickly and stayed so.

My first visit to Lake Placid and found this wonderful restaurant and wine bar. Nice selection of wine and beers and a story telling owner that makes you laugh and feel at home. We made reservations for the next night and loved everything. Food, service, view of the lake were all perfect. Scallops Rockefeller, pork dish, oysters were all fantastic.... More

We arrived early and got a table with a nice view of the lake. I ordered steamed mussels. An enormous serving arrived in a delicious light, creamy broth. So succulent! My partner ordered a carbonara dish: freshly made pasta, chicken, fresh vegetables and shrimp topped with a raw egg yolk. He found it original and very tasty. Nice wine list,... More

We stopped by the Brown Dog for dessert and coffee. We were seated in the bar area. The bartender was our server. I ordered the apple dumpling with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Although it tasted good, I think it should have been served warm, not lukewarm. My companion ordered the brûlée. It was runny. To the credit of... More

Had a wonderful dinner in deepest darkest winter (10 below) in February. Wonderfully diverse wine list, yummy food., attentive, informed service.

Went with several friends for dinner after seeing the good reviews. Service was mediocre. ......food came out very slowly and the steak was over cooked. I don't think the waitress smiled once! Not worth the money. The duck was burnt and we sent it back. The manager did not come over once to apologize for any of the problems. We... More

Yes, I am in 100% agreement, your service was slow coming out of the kitchen for your party of 14, we tried to compensate for our error in timing, by buying your table a bottle of wine and removing items you were unhappy with from your bill. I am positive your server was not smiling, as we all had learned... More

Having hiked Mount Marcy, we were starving and ate at a place up the street and left hungry. So when walking by the Brown Dog, we noticed the place was not crowded and thought, what the heck, let's go in there and sit at the bar. We already had our nouvelle cuisine/fusion fix, so we decided we would split their... More

Had a cup of coffee there at 10pm on a busy night on main street. The place was comfortable & relaxing while high school kids ruled the streets just outside. Grill w as closed but staff was friendly & accommodating.

We initially called in this place for a coffee, but could see it was more than a cafe so we booked a meal there. The service was great and the meals were excellent. I had a beautiful steak and my partner had pork. Overall, this was the best food at very reasonable prices.
