Nice Lunch

The restaurant was empty when we arrived on a Wednesday in late March for lunch. Our friendly waitress seated us by the water view windows. I ordered eggplant parmesan - excellent ($10). It came over spaghetti and with a side of bread. My husband ordered a reuben, which came with fries, a pickle... read more

This is a tough neighborhood to be creative...general work ethic in town not very customer oriented and rather dismissive...this is better than average in terms of service but even at the relatively empty lunch time where we enjoyed a lovely lunch, still missing some beats. Nice wine by the glass, although would have preferred it served in a glass that... More

Had been herein a previous trip and had a good experience. It is a nice atmosphere, the food is great although a little pricey. We had scallops and tuna, both delicious and the salads were exceptional. The service though was abysmal. The server was friendly when he first approached us. He had to come back and confirm the order and... More

We love eating here. They have great wines, unique beers and awesome food. The view from the dining room is a great view of Mirror Lake. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff, including the owner are friendly and knowledgable.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at the Brown Dog on our most recent trip to Lake Placid. Food was great and Kelly the owner was fun, entertaining and a gracious host. If you're looking to slow down and have a delicious French/New American meal, or looking for a cozy spot for a glass of wine, this is... More

Had brunch today... Food was lovely and delicious, and service was kind and attentive. There is something very special about this place! Seldom does one get to enjoy food of this quality without pretense. Our new favorite!

Me and my boyfriend Will were coming to lake placid for the weekend and weren't sure what to do for valentines day. We asked the concierge at our hotel the whitface lodge to recommend a romantic but cozy restaurant with really great food above all else. She told us about the brown dog and made a reservation for us. After... More

Lake Placid is a village where at times it seems there are more restaurants than there are people. It can be easy to gloss over certain restaurants due to the sheer volume. My wife and I stayed at the Haus hotel which overlooks Mirror Lake, and is conveniently located next to the movie theatre, and some attractive dining options. However... More
