This is the only restaurant on the side of Mirror Lake that allows you to see the sunset. We ate outside next to the water and the sunset was tremendous..The service was exceptional. The waiter Mike was really good.. If you get a clear evening then this is the best place to go as we ate at several places in... More

Beautiful setting by the lake. We had just hiked Cascade Mountain and were hungry. Yummy bread to start. Rainbow trout was delicious. I enjoyed the chocolate lava cake for dessert, my husband had the apple tart. Iced tea, decaf coffee, all was perfect. It was fun watching people swim, pedal-bike, and kayak on the lake. Service was very attentive. You... More

Server was very kind and considerate. We had fillet, seared scallop and baked cod. Scallop and Cod were good. I thought baked cod was as good as it gets anywhere else. But fillet wasn't very good and actually quite disappointing. Restaurant is located conveniently close to the main street. And it's very beautiful during sunset time. We had good time.... More

We spent 2 days in Lake Placid with friends. The hotel (crown plaza) recommended the boat house for dinner. We had a table overlooking the water on the deck. Wonderful setting. The food was good but not spectacular. Little things bugged me....the waiter couldn't light our candle because the "clicker" was broken. He rushed us at the table. The restaurant... More

Picked The Boathouse for the location and the view. Requested a 6:00 reservation but were told they couldn't do 6, but could do 6:15. Arrived at 6:10 and the restaurant was almost empty so, though not a big deal,I am not sure why they couldn't accommodate 6:00. The hostess promptly took us to our table...one that clearly had not been... More

We were totally underwhelmed by the food. We both ordered a chicken dish and it was those pre-scored, frozen chicken breasts! Such a lack of creativity especially given the prices. Our drink order never arrived until after our entrees were delivered. We could see our order sitting on the bar for a good 10 minutes but no sign of our... More

Because this restaurant is on the "quiet" side of Mirror Lake, the views of the busier west side are more intriguing and the dining areas are surrounded with large windows that take advantage of the views (especially at night). Nicely decorated in Adirondack style the main dining area is huge with at least 8 tables window side. However, the one... More

Pros: Beautiful from the outside, very nice inside, great views of LP, very attentive service, prices high but not outrageous. Cons: Food was mediocre and somewhat uninspired, the main window overlooking the lake (at least where we sat) was covered with spiders - at least a dozen if not more big ones - not exactly what you want to stare... The view was spectacular, especially at sunset. The trout was delicious, the ribeye was really good. The salads were all great. We also loved the lava cake.
