This restaurant was a little gem. We stumbled across it during our morning walk. It is not on Main Street, but overlooking it. Located in the lower level of the Summit Hotel, and directly across the street from High Peaks reception. Cozy little restaurant that boasts an outdoor patio during the summer months. Chef was extremely accomodation with my gluten/egg... More

Ate here while staying in hotel above. I had a $9 salad. While it was a yummy dressing, it wasn't worth $9 for lettuce. Friend had a $15 burger, which was just average tasting. I also went one evening and ordered a glass of wine and a can of soda, came to $13! Outrageous prices. Only went since were staying... More

Thank you for taking the time to write. We have recently changed to a Market Driven Menu in order to bring the same delicious, local, organic (when available) food available. We hope you will try us again when you are in the area. More

I love brussel sprouts and Alegria is doin them up right. It's nice to see this under-appreciated, baby cabbage given some time in the spotlight for a change. Thanks, Alegria, for having the sprouts to put this dish on your appetizer list. The food quality was high. My wife had flounder, and I had a duck breast med rare. Both... More

You don't get very much for the price you pay. I left still hungry and my wallet was empty too.Kitchen staff was very loud and the manager didn't seem to care, as long as the food was coming out. There was only one other couple in there dining when we were. That should of been a sign.

Thank you so much for your comments. We always like to know how we can improve ourselves. The only other time that I heard that someone was not filled up was when they had a number 2 appetizer. The items like the crab cakes and Torchon are made with expensive ingredients, so are a bit more expensive. They are not... More

While the food was good, the service was subpar and everything was way too overpriced. I paid about $20.00 for a burger that could have been bested by Applebee's. Our server was very inattentive, despite there only being 1 other family in the restaurant. We had to flag her down every time our glasses were empty. Then when we tried... More

I am so sorry that your server was not as attentive as we expect of our staff. We appreciate your feedback so that we can always continue to improve our service. Our burgers are $15. That is because they are a half pound of local, grass fed beef served with gourmet ingredients like homemade blue cheese dressing and local bacon... More

The Alegria Cafe is an easy walk from downtown Lake Placid and worth it. Everything we ordered from the pizza, salad, brussel sprouts and fondue to the specialty drinks made by our bartender were delicious. They are slowly upgrading the decor, which is currently fine, but is the only area we couldn't give a higher rating. Do not let that... More

We've been following this chef for 3 restaurants now and I recommend his food with great enthusiasm. Crab cakes as an app are excellent. The duck breast, medium rare, was perfect on the sausage risotto. The service was very good with the Owner and staff helping out each other. Drinks are cold and the food is hot. The restaurant is... First of all, the Alegria was wonderful. Our waitress was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. Our appetizers and dinners were delicious. Sadly, Alegria is located on the lower level of the average Summit Hotel. We parked in the hotel lot and went in through the lobby. Access to Alegria from the lobby is down a rather dingy stairway. Otherwise, you... More

Thank for your review, we are glad that you enjoyed your food. You actually can get 3 crab cakes, often if 3 people are sharing the dish they will get crab cakes for three. Plus we liked the pictures. You are right though, we should change the picture. It is just that so many people enjoy the crab cakes, and... More

Started off with the crab cakes which were exactly that crab cakes they were almost all crab and no filler which is how its supposed to be to the person who wrote that they were bland apparently didn't touch the sauce that was exquisite with fresh basil and citrus any more seasoning would have overpowered the cake and taken away... A group of four of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Alegria Garden Cafe over Veterans Day weekend. We decided to try as many dishes as possible in order to sample the wide variety of menu items. The appetizer mac and cheese was "to die for" as well as the tomato appetizer. Our most favorite appetizer was the crab... More
