A Great Find After All These Years

For years I turned a blind eye to this part of Lake Placid. "It's called Liquids and Solids," I thought to myself, "It can't possibly be a restaurant consideration." For some reason I continuously gave this place the cold shoulder. It came from some random feeling that I believed I wouldn't like... read more

The atmosphere and service was excellent but the food was a bit odd. They were trying very hard to be creative - but it didn't quite come together in an appetizing way.

When you visit Liquids and Solids for the first time, be prepared to be a little confused. The menu and drink list come out in pages on a clipboard, 5 pages worth. Each food menu is listed with just the ingredients, nothing about how it is served. I guess that is up to the chef to decide. Everything is ala... More

No wait, delicious drinks and gr8 farm to table entrees: we enjoyed roasted cauliflower, fried Brussel sprouts, kielbasa and grilled calamari. Service was excellent - ever so glad we went on Friday since they were closed the rest of Memorial Day Weekend.

I had a great meal here at Liquids and Solids. Quite unusual and creative menu. This is not a steak and potatoes restaurant. I had LONDON BROIL, YORKSHIRE PUDDING, FRISEE, HORSERADISH, SQUASH, GARLIC & TRUFFLE FRAICHE for $17 - with a very nice draft Maine beer. Also had a beer battered fiddlehead, ramp chimmi, churri with chipotle aioli appetizer -... More

This place is cozy, dimly lit, and has high quality food. We ordered the fried brussel sprouts (amazing!) and I had a nice glass of red wine. My son ordered a mountain of poutine and we had some grilled veggies too. Dessert was fantastic! It involved a creamy custardy baked dish with maple syrup (not recalling the name). One suggestion-... I made the 6 hour drive to Lake Placid in large part for the meal that awaited me at L&S. I love this place. It is a breath of fresh air in the staid Lake Placid food scene. I drop in on Lake Placid 4-5 times a year and enjoy Liquids and Solids each time. Be adventurous--one of the best... More

Had a great time here. Restaurant was perfectly busy with no wait but not empty. The food was amazing and full of flavor and the beer menu was spectacular. If you like beer garden type places this is for you!

This is what makes a 4 ½ hour round trip for a beer and a bite to eat well worth it. While there are plenty of bottled craft beers available, there are only six drafts. But OH, what wonderful drafts they are. We chose a 16 oz. Pinner Throwback IPA ($6; 4.9% abv) from Oskar Blues Brewery in either Colorado... More

The food offered was very much on the gourmet side. Do not let the serving size appearance fool you. We both had a difficult time finishing our entrees but we forced ourselves. Food is innovative, fresh and unique - but not so
