This is a very romantic restaurant and is perfect for special occasions. But I must say, after having eaten here for many years, the prices do not justify the quality of the overall experience. The food tries too hard to be innovative but often is a jumble of favors that don't mesh well together or is too bland to be... More

Pretentious, over priced and ridiculously small portions. Atmosphere is very nice and service was good. I can tolerate the pretentious food and even the high prices but the size of the portions put me over the edge. The courses are served on over sized plates. The food, of course, is colorfully decorated but the portions are woefully small. The Chocolate... More

We were seated at 7:45 for a 7:30 reservation at a table which had not been set and was sticky from previous spillage. Fifteen minutes later, after complaining to the "host" he set the table, but I had to remind him to wipe away the sticky stuff.. No apologies whatsoever for the situation. Our server, Emily, was great and helpful,... More

I have eaten at Artisans on several occasions (breakfast and dinner) and it has been consistently outstanding. In fact, this is one of those places where my family goes to celebrate special occasions and holidays. I have said in other reviews that when I go out to dinner at a fine dining establishment, I expect outstanding food, impeccable service with... More

We stayed in one of the cabins and loved it... had an outstanding 5-star gourmet dinner, but service was a bit lacking for 5-star.

Although Artisans is the signature restaurant at the Lake Placid Lodge, one of the classic resorts in the Adirondacks, it also serves a wonderful breakfast with same great view of the lake as at dinner for about 30% of the price. A must try is the french toast that is unlike any other we have ever had. The bread was... More

I wish I would have eaten dinner there every night. Unfortunately. it was my last night that I ate there for the first time. There is a four course prix fixe (two appetizers, one entree, and dessert) for $80 or you can order a la carte. We chose the latter. The three of us shared two appetizers; black truffle risotto... Very good meal. Ordered ala carte, as opposed to the prix fix menu. Pricey, but not overly so. Nice seasonal selection. Excellent service.

We had lunch on the patio this summer at Lake Placid Lodge (we were staying at the Point and wanted to venture into town for a break away) - food was very good and the view from the patio deck was terrific. LPL is very busy in the summer but you still felt welcomed upon arrival at the Lodge and... More
