My husband and I took our teenage kids for a memorable dinner at the lodge. We had been told to come and prepare to relax and take our time. They weren't kidding. We arrived at 6:30 and didn't leave until 11. The leisurely pace was nice but a bit over the top -- it's a family business and there... read more

Incredibly dissapointment evening for my family and I at this restaurant. We were very excited to go and thought the decor was charming and sweet. The food coming out was so bad and so completely NOT what was described it was embarrassing. They actually served us tries cuts and sliced hot dogs ( I'm not joking) for one of the... More

I could write a lengthy review about small portions, mediocre food and ridiculous prices....but just thinking about how we were "taken" is enough to make me upset again. I can only assume they make their money by soaking one time visitors to the area. After finding out about the $300 bill (which my husband paid and didn't tell me about... More

We went here for a "combined" anniversary celebration. The wine and beer selection was great but the time spent downstairs was way too long. Apparently Ernest was running late on a beer testing. Once upstairs we were served in a reasonable amount of time . I had the vegetarian dish and my friend had the trout ; both were delicious... More

We had been at Lodge 40 years ago and decided to go back for dinner. The Lodge had rustic Adirondacks decor with old world charm. The restaurant was a magical combination of Alpine ambience and the Adirondack Great Camp style. The Hoffmayer family provided a gracious and warm welcome. The food was extraordinary and was prepared to accommodate special dietary... More

My husband and I had the luxury of having dinner at Lake Clear Lodge. We felt totally pampered in a nurturing environment. We were greeted by Ernest and given full access to choosing from a large selection of beer and wine. We enjoyed a delightful appetizer of salmon pancakes as we sat by the open fire sipping our drinks. We... More

Two couples went to the Lodge for dinner. We had all been there before and had a wide variety of entrees and the food was delicious. Our meal this time was far from delicious. Along with being the smallest portions I have ever gotten in a restaurant the food was nothing special. I had the pork loins which came out... More

OMG the dining experience is nothing short of AMAZING. Start with a choice of a 100+ beers or wines and fabulous appetizers in the Rathskeller then move upstairs for a 3 course dinner featuring innovative entrees based on local (100 Mile) products. Six of us each had a different entrée and we all loved them. The table is yours for... More

Very personal attention at this family-owned restaurant/cooking school/lakeside cottage emporium. If you like beer and wines you'll like this one, with the owner very happy to walk you through more than 200 brews from around the world. Food was good; service was excellent. Definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.

This is our 40th year dining at Hohmeyer's Lake Clear Lodge. And as usual it was a wonderful relaxing night - starting off in the Rathskeller relaxing and talking with Ernest, then a stroll down to the lake to see the sunset. Upstairs Cathy had once again outdone herself - the meals were not only attractive but tasty. It is... More
