Only French in town

I have had very good meals here. Known for excellent soups too. Sometimes I feel the service is kooky, but it's fine. Good bread, great wines. Dark interior decor. There is a back room we've rented out many times for office holiday parties.

That Jean Jacques has been running this restaurant for twenty years should say it all. The service is excellent drom the table to the bar. The food is country style French. Sauces are perfection as I would expect. The portions have always been generous.

Laura and I went for lunch in this old favorite. We each ordered le plat de jour: Laura ordered the mussels mariniere, served in a fabulous white wine sauce with rosemary; I ordered a croque monsieur, with a small green salad (we were given a plate of frites to go with the mussels). The Canard is an attractive place with... More

Feels like walking into a traditional Paris bistro. Traditional French fare. Very good quality. Staff is friendly and competent . Have eaten here regularly and find it very consistent. A definite recommendation.

La Canard is an outstanding restaurant and one of the best in the Hudson Valley. Excellent food, well prepared with outstanding service.

We went here for a celebration dinner and Le Canard did not disappoint. We were seated right away. The wine selection is wonderful. The warmed beet salad was my favorite (and we tried a few). My husbands rabbit was cooked perfectly and was so tender. My scallops were fantastic. Their sauces were AMAZING. Kudos to the chef for the sauce... More

This is a wonderful, charming restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious and consistant. The wait staff and owner are just lovely, eccentric and soooo French. Love the accents. Oui. Low lighting, kitchy decor and intimate tables make for a romantic dinner. My husband and I who are Francophiles, absolutely love to eat here. I've taken my staff here to celebrate... More

It was a cold and rainy Sunday, but the warmth of the service and the outstanding food made us quickly forget the weather. The escargot were (was?) excellent, tender with just the right amount of garlic butter and herbs. The soft-shell crab was the finest my wife had ever eaten. It was covered in fresh vegetables and cooked perfectly. My... More

We ate here last night for wife's birthday and it was terrific. They had a great list of specials and traditional French fare. It was hard to decide, there were no bad choices. The service was also very good.

My wife and I eat here regularly. Great menu and the specials are outstanding. My favorites are oysters, lamb chops, escargot, JJ's home made soups, filet minion and if you call ahead of time their garlic sauteed spinach. White table cloths, good ambiance. Great drinks.
