Excellent

This was a very nice meal of classic French cuisine done at a level one hopes for from an excellent French bistro. We had duck a l'orange done impeccably with nice balance of citrus, slight sweetness, and the depth of the duck. The apricot tart was also excellent. The wine list had a number of... read more

There is a place in Kingston where I can count on always getting a wonderful meal and that is Le Canard. Over the years the quality and the cozy atmosphere have remained consistantly wonderful. Tonight, a special night, we came expecting great food and were not dissappointed. Our waiter, Stephane, was charming and very efficient. My husband had Steak Frites,... More

While the food is very good, it is a bit pricey. All the items are a la carte. The restaurant is quite dark and the wait staff is attentive in refilling water they are not observant in other respects. This is a major shortcoming in restaurant of this purported level. It was my first visit and I would really need... More

Hands down this is the best eating spot in town,Pricey but well worth it. Excellent arugula, goat cheese orange and mild vinaigrette favors. two glasses Chardonnay. divine tarte tatin. The chef is French and knows his stuff. outdoes any place in nearby Woodstock.

Stopped in on an impromptu visit to Kingston!!!!!! This place came recommended by people I met on a Boat ride. Started with a Duck Pate- out of this world. Had one of their specials- A sauted shrimp dish with a sweet and spicy sauce over a couscous. Just wish there was more than 3 shrimp, but thats just my insatiable... More

This place is so beautiful, you would swear you were actually in France. The food is delicious and they have a nice wine list. Very romantic, authentically French!

You would swear that this is a transplanted bistro from Brittany, even though the owner's been here for 20 years. The quality of the food is top-notch and the preparation is superb along with the wine and the service. My only complaint is that we live so far away.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening, which, no doubt, explains the one negative note. My wife ordered a Beefeater and tonic before dinner, since we saw that there was a beautiful bar in the restaurant, but no bartender and no one sitting at it. A waitress, not the one to whom we gave our food... More

I have had very good meals here. Known for excellent soups too. Sometimes I feel the service is kooky, but it's fine. Good bread, great wines. Dark interior decor. There is a back room we've rented out many times for office holiday parties.

That Jean Jacques has been running this restaurant for twenty years should say it all. The service is excellent drom the table to the bar. The food is country style French. Sauces are perfection as I would expect. The portions have always been generous.
