“Í love to cook for people,” says J J Richert. That’s a good thing as he and his brother, Kevin, both veterans of the culinary scene, turn out some of the most sophisticated dining in town. My husband and I try to get to at least one new restaurant during restaurant week. This week was Torches. We heard a lot of good things, so we were excited to get e reservation. And that's as exciting as it got. The salad was fine. Nothing fabulous, but fine. A little overdressed for my taste. Then we had the... More

I have been to Torches many times over the years and last nights meal just cemented them as the #1 restaurant in Buffalo. The meal we had last night I would rank in the top 5 all time. Their fall menu is beyond compare. We started with an incredible amuse bouche from the kitchen. It was tortellini in a butternut... More

The outside look of this restaurant is not a reflection of the quality of what you will get in the restaurant, I found this restaurant very good, in Europe it would be classified as entry level gastronomic, as the menu is very original, and the personal is very knowledgable, I can really recommend this one...

I do consider this restaurant medicore none of the food had really a good taste. The best thing was the salad with goat cheese. The water in Buffalo which I consider not drinkable is not filtered and comes right from the tap which is strange in a restaurant which is not exactly cheap.Do they not feel that a filtration system would be... My boyfriend surprised me with Valentines dinner. The atmosphere was very nice candlelight. They tried to fit as many people as they possibly could in the small room. I would have enjoyed myself much more if we were spread apart from other couples. Food and drinks were good, the menu was very limited for the holiday. I would love to... More

I love Torches. I haven't been in over a year and after recommending the place to so many people lately, I had to finally go back myself. I like that they give you an iPad to look at alongside the menu. A lot of the items on the menu sound strange and are hard to picture. The idea of knowing... More

Good variety and young and creative chefs. Small Kenmore venue but always good fare. Menu changes a lot but that's Ok because it is usually very creative and presented well. Good drinkls and on site parking too. Give them a try!

Tonight was the perfect example of a positive restaurant experience in Buffalo NY. Restaurant Week is a great way to experience a new culinary adventure. And Torches outdid themselves with not only excellent food but A+ service . Chef JJ offers a world class and innovative menu. You must try this hidden gem. You will not be disappointed
