MacDuff's is on the corner of 4th and Pine, set slightly below grade. It is a very red and black plaid environment, intimate and cozy. As another review noted, the owners are also the chef and server, and they're not young any more, but are well educated and interesting. Eating at MacDuff's is an experience...more than just a meal. We... More

This is a difficult review to write. Having read many glowing reviews (and one horrendous review) of this restaurant on tripadvisor, my wife and I and another couple ate there last Friday. We discussed the reviews and agree that the glowing reviews were way over the top, and the horrendous review was unfair. This is a small, couple owned and... More

Another visit to MacDuff's and another excellent meal! The veal/blackberry entree and shrimp stuffed sole are out of this world! I agree with Yodle...homemade squash/apple soup was amazing! The chefs, Donna and Gary, know just how to blend herbs and spices to make each dish unique! If you have room...the homemade orange ice cream with chocolate bits served in a... More

My wife and I enjoyed a terrific dinner last night. This was a special prix fixe dinner so it's not a regular menu selection but I wanted to share the joy. Amuse-gueule ( few tiny pastries some filled with pesto and others with crab) paired with Cote Jardin Blanc...excellent Herbed Squash and Apple soup...a rich savory soup with a hint... More

I took my mom to dinner here on 10/19/12. A friend who ate here years ago recommended it, plus I saw a majority of good reviews online. This was the most disappointing meal ever. - HORRIBLE tasting food -EXPENSIVE horrible tasting food… -not clean -empty on Friday night -seated friends right next to us Here is the story (Please note-... We found this on trip advisor. Old decor, but with elegance of time gone by. Lovely old shutters on the window. Extensive wine list. The filet was fantastic and my husband's fish was super. The desert was lacking a little and the coffee was burned. But, saying that, the owners were lovely and you can tell they have put their... More

This place was a real find. An elderly couple set this restaurant up and have a run it for years. This places oozes personality from the unique decor to their dog who has his painting framed over the fire place. The menu is delivered orally by the wife who has memorized it over a number of years. I think we... More

We had a great meal at MacDuff's. A husband and wife team manage the restaurant and do the cooking. It is very small and intimate. The food is excellent. If you want a very quiet experience for those special occasions, this is the place for you.

How to describe MacDuff's? Don't go if you're in a hurry, want predictable food, or are looking for a bargain. Do go if you have time to appreciate a homecooked meal, are ready for a food adventure, and are willing to pay for fabulous food with decent wine and perhaps a Scotch from the largest menu of Scotch you'll find... My wife and I are gastronomes and travel the world and have eaten at fine restaurants all over the planet. The finest - bar none. We are not saying this to brag but I am just quantifying myself for those of you that might wonder what our standards are. We vacation in upstate NY for the summer and were looking... More
