It Is Worth The Trip From Anywhere

O Lavrador is still the best restaurant in the area. A short cab ride from Jamaica Airtran & Long Island Railroad Station. The food is wonderful. This restaurant has the best fried jumbo shrimps in NYC. They made their own potato chips which are served hot and crispy. The staff is great.

Went on a weekday for lunch. We had attentive service in the empty dining room, which was wonderful. The paella marinhero (sp.) was excellent as was the red snapper filet. We will go back!

My husband and I ate dinner there for our anniversary last year, we fell in love with this place! The food is amazing, our favorite dish is the shrimp in the spicy red sauce. We have been going back to meet friends we were there recently with our son, for my birthday dinner in May!! Cesar our waiter is always... More

We took the AirTran to the Jamaica Platform, paid five buck to exit and an 8 dollar cab ride for lunch on a long layover at JFK. Food is fantastic, full and active bar, and menu has typical Portuguese entrees.

Decided to make the most of a three-hour layover between flights at JFK by visiting this restaurant for a mid-afternoon dinner, about 10 minutes away. The restaurant is immaculately clean; the table and napkin linens spotless and pressed. We enjoyed the Lombo de Vaca (grilled filet mignon), and Chourico Casiero (sausage flambee). Our appetizer, the chourico, was prepared a few... More

We found this place through Groupon and decided to give it a try. As recommended, we made reservations for our Sunday evening dinner, arrived and were seated immediately even though we were a few minutes early. Its decor and atmosphere were charming, and the sangria was delicious. For our appetizer we tried the Camarao Piri-Piri which had a nice spicy... More

I brought my 2 family members to enjoy a nice dinner due to a special event. The reviews seemed to describe this establishment as a place to have a great meal so I decided to give a new place we hadn't gone to a try. We waited approximately 25 minutes to order as the place was full and the single... More

I live down the street and have visited the place over the years the food and drinks get more expensive and less tasty. Save your money head over to sutphin blvd and eat at one of the Portuguese restaurants there. This establishment is usually filled with locals who go there to drink and play pool on the crooked table in... More

If you are headed to JFK enroute to Lisbon, Porto and points twixt the two, you might save yourself beaucoup bucks by stopping on 101st Avenue in Jamaica for authentic Portuguese cuisine served in generous quantities to wash down with some sangria while listening to the haunting strains of Fado. A great deal all around.
