The Heights Restaurant and H Bar was established in 1995 by Culinary Institute of America graduate James Larounis and his wife Heidi. We are located in the Village of Cayuga Heights, one mile from the center of Cornell University. The restaurant has a casual, contemporary atmosphere and features Mediterranean-inspired American cuisine. We place the utmost value on our seasonal menus and on sourcing locally. We also take great pride in our wine list which includes over 400 bottle selections from the United States and international regions, and over 20 wines by the glass. The Heights Restaurant and H Bar has been a Wine Spectator award winner since 1999.

Always the best!

I have dined at The Heights countless times. Having traveled extensively throughout Europe, mostly in France, I can say that The Heights is, by far, the best restaurant in Ithaca and in this upstate NY region. I have dined at The Heights countless times. Having traveled extensively throughout Europe, mostly in France, I can say that The Heights is, by far, the best restaurant in Ithaca and in this upstate NY region. With two universities in our town, local people, who have traveled the world, have discerning taste. The Heights never disappoints. I can say I've... More

After six years away from Ithaca, I finally had the opportunity to returned, and bring my kids to meet Cornell, Ithaca, and of course, bring them to the restaurant I used to love. We are food lovers, and often travel just to go eat in some place people recommend. After all this time away, it was amazing to see that... More

While the ambiance and service were good, the pizza was incompetent. Hard as wood and glooped with cheese. We had three made and they all came out that way.

My husband and I recently took a trip to Ithaca, we just happened to stumble on this charming restaurant in Community Corners. We weren't really dressed for a nice dinner so we decided to sit at the bar where we were greeted by the friendly bartender, Bobbie. The wine and cocktail menu had a wide variety of drinks to pick... The chef came out and smiled at us as he made his way through the dining room, so call me easy, but that is going to get you TA stars in my book. The problem is that then I needed to take some away… our steaks were cooked to perfection, nice impressive sizes, but then they were placed in such... More

We took an overseas guest to a mid-week dinner to the Heights recently. In my mind the restaurant is known for large portions and somewhat high prices. Both conditions still apply. What I did not recall was that vegetarian options are limited -- there was only one vegetarian choice among the main courses which I ordered: the Vegetable Cassoulet. It... More

We visited The Heights while visiting our son at Cornell. We picked it out prior to our trip. We were not disappointed. Hummus and breads with a plate of olive oil and balsamic are served once you are seated. The hummus was fabulous. The server is courteous and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and offered his recommendations when asked.... More

A friend and I needed a place to meet to discuss a job transition and to have lunch. Both of us were using Ithaca as our meeting place as we both live over an hour away in different directions. I settled on the Heights. They were very accommodating seating us in their back room, which was very quiet and semi-private.... More

Very nice food. The plates are very big but tasty. I order a new york, bone in. It was cooked perfectly. I just found the sauce a bit sweet for the meat. The potatoes were delicious. The service is excelent as well as the wine menu! They have a good selection of wines by the glass

We come here whenever we visit Ithaca, and we are never disappointed. The clams casino was not the usual, and came off really well. The cauliflower appetizer is always wonderful, and finishing with lava cake is a must. All the entrees were great too. Nice ambiance and easy to park right in front.
