Maxie's is on State Street in Ithaca. They're just around the corner from Island Fitness and across the street from Cayuga Cyclery, so it's not unusual for me to be in the neighborhood. Even though I've lived here for less than a year, I'll bet I've been to Maxie's at least 10 times: usually just for a hard cider or... More

Decided to ride from Watkins Glen after wining the west side of Seneca lake. Saw an advertisement for Maxie's. When we entered 4pm when they opened we were told only raw bar until 5pm. That was very disappointing and unexpected. They did have soup and the crab corn chowder and Gumbo were very good. Our bartender was so friendly and... More

Happy hours oysters are from 4pm to 6pm, and totally worth it if you go that time. Oysters are ok, not that fresh. I can accept happy hours price for oyster at this quality, but definitely not pay full price for them. Shrimp and grits are great and crawfish popcorn is really really nice. We love those. Service was nice... More

First time here and it was very good. Plenty of seating both inside and out. Corn and crab chowder was very good but only lukewarm. First time trying gumbo and it was good with a smokey taste. Fried chicken was a fried cutlet which was Beverly good as was the accompanying collard greens. Fried fish was OK, not very hot,... More

It was a weeknight, yet SUPER busy! You could tell this was a great place to eat and drink, as it was full of locals! The service was prompt and friendly and the food terrific! While a little on the loud side, it was a great overall experience.

I've been to Maxie's many times and the food is always what's promised. The seafood is good quality and I love the cornbread they serve (although it was a bit different the last time i went there). The oysters are expensive, so I recommend going for their happy-hour specials.

I've been going to Maxie's for years, and their food is consistently delicious! The drinks are very good too, but the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The shrimp and grits are excellent, and one of my favorite things to get there. The fried chicken is good, but don't forget the tasso gravy!

Despite being booked to overflowing months in advance (graduation week ! ) we had prompt, excellent service. The food was amazing.

A group of 11 enjoyed Maxie's after our daughter graduated from Ithaca. The meal was a very good experience, one we all enjoyed. The food was fresh prepared, came to the table hot, and all of the dishes were very flavorful. Around the table we had: peel-and-eat shrimp, oysters on the half shell, ribs, pulled pork, tenderloin, crab cakes, chicken... More

The Shrimp and Grits is the most delicious meal in Ithaca, flavored with a hint of curry. Delicious!
