Want a GREAT breakfast? This is the place! Family owned old style Greek Diner in downtown Ithaca. Huge portions, small price.Hearty, simple food. Clean restaurant, super pleasant staff. Excellent food. Be sure and try the mediterranean omelet made with real gyros. This visit, I had the sausage gravy over homemade biscuits, home fries. DIL had Raspberry pancakes, (huge ones) and... This gets five stars for restaurants in its category--it's a diner/coffee shop, and it serves great diner/coffee shop food, especially great breakfasts, which you can order any time, The bacon is the best I've eaten just about anywhere--flavorful and cooked to a perfect crispness. The cheese omelets (I like the old-fashioned American-cheese kind, but you also can order other kinds)... More

We went for dinner. If you like home cooking and whoever cooks at your home is good at heating stuff up out of a can, this is your place. I like that kind of thing, so I thought the food was good. My wife, a foodie, said Guy Fieri would run away. The diner atmosphere is pleasant, although the music... More

I got a sense when I walked in that this would be the typical greasy spoon. I chose to order something very basic, chicken fingers, as I thought they would be a safe option. It took a while for the waiter to take our order and then he forgot about the drinks. Another waitress came over and we asked her... More

Ok, so the State Diner is average all around. The one redeeming factor is the gravy & cheese fries! This is greasy spoon nirvana! The fries are blister-hot, and the brown gravy/melted cheese makes the BEST topper. It's hard to find this dish (common up North) so every time I return, I get my fix of this delicious dish of... The State Diner cool from the front. We were seated quickly just before their usual weekend rush. The place seems frantic, even a bit chaotic, but there is a charm to that. The service was friendly and rushed. A great menu but the food we ordered was very bland and boring in our opinion. Granted, this is a diner but... More

We looked high and low for a place to grab a greasy breakfast. The Lincoln was closed on Sundays and we ended up at The State. Service was friendly but food was mediocre at best. The breakfast arrived intermittently and my friend wasn't served her two poached eggs until we were almost done. The home fries tasted like they had... More

here's a terrific, typical, greek-specialty old diner... we loved coming in here at 4 on black Friday morning and watching the bale of hash browns vanish... a little shopworn but that's part of the charm...

A great spot to hit up diner food. Could not ask more from a diner experience. Omelettes and milkshakes were perfect and hit the spot. Definitely really good food for the price you pay!
