I got a sense when I walked in that this would be the typical greasy spoon. I chose to order something very basic, chicken fingers, as I thought they would be a safe option. It took a while for the waiter to take our order and then he forgot about the drinks. Another waitress came over and we asked her... More

Ok, so the State Diner is average all around. The one redeeming factor is the gravy & cheese fries! This is greasy spoon nirvana! The fries are blister-hot, and the brown gravy/melted cheese makes the BEST topper. It's hard to find this dish (common up North) so every time I return, I get my fix of this delicious dish of... The State Diner cool from the front. We were seated quickly just before their usual weekend rush. The place seems frantic, even a bit chaotic, but there is a charm to that. The service was friendly and rushed. A great menu but the food we ordered was very bland and boring in our opinion. Granted, this is a diner but... More

We looked high and low for a place to grab a greasy breakfast. The Lincoln was closed on Sundays and we ended up at The State. Service was friendly but food was mediocre at best. The breakfast arrived intermittently and my friend wasn't served her two poached eggs until we were almost done. The home fries tasted like they had... More

here's a terrific, typical, greek-specialty old diner... we loved coming in here at 4 on black Friday morning and watching the bale of hash browns vanish... a little shopworn but that's part of the charm...

A great spot to hit up diner food. Could not ask more from a diner experience. Omelettes and milkshakes were perfect and hit the spot. Definitely really good food for the price you pay!

A great diner delivers and experience as well as a meal. It is evident from the minute you walk in the door. The stainless steel, the vinyl upholstery, in this case the domed ceiling, from the time we walked in, it was obvious that this was the real deal. The place is a local institution having been closed for a... More

Good basic diner food, fast service, reasonable prices. Our table of 7 was seated promptly and served fast. Eggs came as ordered (not something I take for granted when asking for runny poached eggs), good Belgian waffle with fruit and whipped cream, good omelets. It's age to swap out toast for a bagel here, as the bagels are decent. Good... More

If you're a person who enjoys the retro diner experience, good place to go. The food is ok, nothing special, and the service is idiosyncratic -- some people like the brashness of diner service. It's a piece of Americana, genuine. And if you go in with that attitude, you'll enjoy it. Face it... Diner food was never cuisine. This is... More

Eating here for many years, nothing to write home about, just the town diner... Good for coffee and the usual stuff you'd have in a diner...
