Service was great; food was merely adequate. Very disappointed after reading their cookbooks for so many years. Prices high for this quality.

I liked the element of surprise in this restaurant: different menu every night, you never know what you're going to get. They don't take reservations: just show up at 5:30 and you'll get a table. Half of the items we ordered were delicious, the other half just ok. The service was a bit chaotic: one person takes your order, then... More

We were visiting colleges in Ithica and stayed at a hotel next to the restaurant. I had remembered the cookbooks from the 1980s and was excited to try the restaurant. The food was fabuous. The menu was limited, but all vegatarian or fish. It was perfect for us. We picked 2 dishes and shared them both. Both were amazing. Even... More

My wife and I have been cooking from some of the Moosewood cookbooks since the mid-'70s but had never been here so took advantage of a trip through upstate New York. We began with a half carafe of the house Pinot Grigio and the Thai flavored hummus. The hummus, with its subtle flavors of pepper and cilantro, was very pleasant.... More

My daughter and I ate here while visiting Cornell. We are not vegetarians but she has some food allergies, and they were top-notch at accommodating her. The food was fabulous, just fabulous. Service was friendly, and we only had a 10-minute wait on a Thursday at 8pm. We ate on the patio and it was lovely. We enjoyed it so... More

We've been cooking out of these cook books since the early 80's so when our youngest when to school in Ithaca (2010) it was wonderful to visit Moosewood several times over the last 4 years. What I learned is to look around before you order. We have had a couple disappointing dishes but most have been excellent.

Went there on a friday evening for the first time. Didn't have to wait long, and the wait staff was attentive. Had zucchini curry soup and potato soup Spanish style; both were really good. The fish special (roasted cod), though well cooked, was unimaginative. Also had a vegetarian entree that my wife did not finish; she thought it was disappointing.... More

Food is uninspired and over-rated. Although the cookbooks were great, the restaurant is not all that. Location is charming. Has outdoor dining. Food may be vegetarian, but not particularly healthy.
