We were sorry to see this old standby bite the dust. We enjoyed Fridays in the bar where Cookie Coogan held forth at the piano with jazz standards, sometimes joined by one or two of the bar regulars. While the salad bar was a treat (plenty of bleu cheese), the rest of the food was just OK. But it was... More

First let me say our waiter was great! He was enthusiastic and he was a professional. Starting out the bread was just ok, sometimes I look to the bread to be a hint of the quality of the food coming. I ordered veal saltimbocca. The veal was too thick, and too tough. There was no spinach. The sauce normally the best... More

First, if you're looking for a brightly lit restaurant go to McDonald's, or Olive Garden. People complaining about the somewhat dim lighting have been to too many fast-food joints. Anyway, we have eaten there several times, mostly pasta dishes, but have tried the Steak Italian Style, and although pricey, is enough for two people, and very tender. The pasta has... More

A group of eight dined here the Saturday before Easter. We had an early seating, so the place was pretty empty. Our server greeted us warmly and attended to our every need. The salad bar is a plus, but there was not a tomato to be found. When we asked, they just said "we don't have any." I guess that... More

I've tried this place a few times over the years, the most recently being December 2011. The salad bar is really good, but the rest of the food is hit or miss. Have had mediocre to good food, and hit or miss service.

Average good Italian food. Nice when the piano player was there. A bit pricey for the quality I thought.

Our family went for some "traditional Italian" food. The place looked the part, but that was the only part that was good about the experience. The salad bar was bowls of canned food...canned chic peas; canned beets; canned (maybe bottled) pickled cauliflower mix, etc. No spices or imagination used in the preparation or in the presentation. The most excitement was... More

I have been going to Lucatelli's a few times a year for more than 10 years now and I have NEVER eaten anything there that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The Baked Homemade Cannelloni Florentine is my absolute favorite! The menu and prices haven't changed all that much in the past 10 years, and compare quite well with all other... More

We visited Lucatelli's tonight. Respectfully, we disagree with the poor reviews. This isn't a 5-star Manhattan or San Francisco restaurant, but it isn't trying to be. It is earnest and respectable. The decor is 1960s kitsch - wood paneling, dark carpeting, overdone chandeliers. Piano in the front; Frank, Sammy, Dean, Perry and Tony provide the music for the rest of... More
