We always come back

This is a small, kind of throwback Italian place that we really enjoy. Their marinara sauce is always flavorful and sweet. I see a lot of families, couples and all ages so it's not uncool to bring younger kids. There is a cute little bar. Service is never lightning fast, but it's worth the wait for... read more

Drakes has been a landmark on Rte 28 for more than a few decades. I remember it during the early 70s. Good, basic economical meals--sometimes there is quite a wait for service. A "locals" bar that has learned to live with seasonal sand tourists. I like the French fries. The fish fries on Friday are popular.

First this: the food is good, portions just right, and prices very reasonable. But ... We were there on a Thursday for breakfast. One one other couple seated in the dining room. It took the waitress a good 10 minutes to "notice" us. Once she finally got around to taking our order, it was another 30 minutes before breakfast arrived.... More

This is the best place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't come here in a hurry. Relax. That's why you are on vacation.

Food was okay (n terrible, not great) and the prices were okay. But service was insanely slow. There were an adequate number of wait staff for the number of patrons so I assume the hold up had to be in the kitchen. Took me 30 minutes just to get my intro garden salad and 45 minuets to get my entree,... More

We have gone to Drakes for many years since my wife's family has owned property in Inlet since the 1950's. The property was sold several years ago and we have made trips to Inlet every few years since then. Went there for lunch the first week of Aug 2015. Very disappointed this time. The atmosphere is homey and clean, which... More

we were very disappointed with Drakes- we had not been there in years- and we had very bad service, and the food took forever. I ordered a "super salad" - and was told it had to be made special by the chef- so I was really looking forward to a nice salad. What I got after an hour -was iceberg... More

I like it almost in spite of myself. Good place to go for dinner if you like yesterday's menu; think "comfort food." Not particularly hospitable or friendly to a solo traveler. What I like is a certain authenticity and the absence of surprises. Food's someplace around a little better than average, but I'm not a foodie.

Stopped in for lunch a couple of times. Service was slow but the food was very good. Guess it all balances out.

We chose to eat at Drakes because it has always been there , the food always good , and the service quick . The vegetable soup and the french dressing on theh salad is always on the menu , and always good . We had not been there in many years - but the experience was still a good one... More
