Thought we'd give it a try on the back of recommendations from other travellers in our hotel... What a good shout!! The food was amazing...we went a good few times & the food was always spot on. Decent menu with plenty of choice... Highly recommended :D

Wonderful fresh food, good for vegetarians too "South of the Sahara" being my favourite dish. Good service & beautiful surroundings.

An airy confortable and somewhat sophisticated restaurant near the Kombo Beach. Relaxed atmosphere with candle-lit tables and a menu which, though not large, covered all the bases. recommended

Delicious butter fish, recommended by the staff, cooked while we waited, could not fault it. They said it was caught that morning and it certainly tasted like it.

I visited this restauarant twice with friends, both times I had fish, but rest of my company had varied meals including chicken affra, prawns, steak and everyone seemed well pleased. Service was a little slow as you get to expect in Africa, but being with company it was not a problem, lots of conversation taking place. Place half empty which... More

The Gambia is suffering from a massive reduction in the number of tourists (the ebola scare has done a tremendous amount of damage) and hotels and restaurants are suffering greatly. Indeed, some have had to close - albeit temporarily. The Captain's Table is still open but have pared down their menu considerably and even then some things are not available.... More

the food here is absolutely fine, it is mostly sea food and is a bit more expensive than other restaurants in the vicinity but there is no problems with it. when we were there the place was empty night after night as it is slightly hidden round a corner and there is a lack of tourists. however we gave it... We ate all our evening meals at The Captains Table as we were staying next door at the Bakotu Hotel. Very at tentative staff, Fatu, our waitress for the week was excellent! Wide menu including local dishes although some dishes were unavailable, would recommend the halibut, butterfish and chicken yassa.

The Captains Table is attached to the Bakotu. I can recommend the chicken satay and the Butterfish. Delicious.
