Came in on a Saturday night for dinner and chose to eat in the less formal back dining room under the stuffed grizzly bear and the 6 point buck head. Very unique decorations here! Waitress was very attentive and there were many choices. The bar is very close and when there's a rowdy group you can barely hear your own... More

We return to this restaurant often, eating in the casual back room. Our favorite to split is a burger and brick oven pizza. They are gourmet pizzas with feta cheese, olives etc. There is also a more formal dining area which is pleasant.

We recently returned here after several years. We were very pleasantly surprised to find the food very good and the atmosphere still quite charming. I particularly enjoyed the muscle appetizer. I drank the sauce it was that good .

We have been dining at this restaurant for several years and have always enoyed a great meal. We've tried everything from burgers and pizza to roast duck and trout. Each meal has been deliciously prepared with fresh ingredients and the service has always been friendly and efficient. It's a great casual dining spot with reasonable prices.

Unfortunately Hillsdale House has lost its edge over the past two years and has become the restaurant of last resort. Even the most simple food, and I do mean sandwiches, can be disappointing. The food is totally inconsistent and at a table for four there can be mixed reviews from every diner. Even the pizza, which was a staple, is... More

This was the worst dining experience of our lives. The food was marginal except for the steaks with goat cheese which were quite good as were the cheesy potatoes. The trout was boney as oily. But the absoulute worst part was the service. Our appetizers came at the same time as entrees did. They gave us the wrong appetizers and... More

great drinks, good appetizers, and wonderful steak au poivre. WE usually share calamari and then the steak with frites. Both excellent and worth going back for regularly. The older staff is terrific and we love Janet and Terry.

They got a new chef a few years ago and he's good. Standard American/Continental fare, but always reliable. In the "heart" of Hillsdale. My only real complaint is that they stopped giving you an entree for a percentage discount equal to your age during your birthday month.

This place was recommended to us by the motel manager. We were disappointed in the menu. We, too, were there between lunch and dinner and were told we could not order a calzone. The dinners were too pricey and the tavern fare too blah. We didn't try anywhere else in Hillsdale, but wouldn't recommend this place.
