Terrific historic atmosphere. The food was beautifully and creatively presented as well as delicious. Sneak upstairs to get a bird's eye view of the chef and staff prepping in the kitchen.

The minute you walk into the Inn you are struck by the authenticity of the wood floors, panels, fireplaces, décor, everything. I was surprised there was no hitching post for my horse. The tables were set with slate placemats and the flowers were fresh. The tables themselves were from a different century. The first thing served was an amuse-bouche on... More

The weather was spectacular, blue sky, nice breeze, and we were not in any hurry. Service was very personable & did not cloy. As we sat comfortably outside, watched swimmers off to the Esopus creek, & sipped on leisurely & generous drinks. Then, sweet cornbread and scones (fresh out of the oven) + butter(?) w/Strawberry jelly just arrived!(omg) Appetizers: R:... More

We ate at the Dupuy Canal House and had an absolutely memorable meal. John Novi is still a Master at not only creating dishes that are delicious with perfectly blended ingredients but also are exquisitely presented. The interior is charming and appointed with an eclectic array of period furnishings and table settings. We hope to indulge ourselves soon and return... More

My parents and I stopped in here based on my quick look at Yelp! We were hungry and I thought it looked like a simple tavern to get dinner and a beer. We were stunned when we were brought into this sweet space that featured an incredible menu. If the menu wasn't enough, our dinners were just fantastic. My Mom... More

After 30 years of living on the west coast my wife and I had the opportunity to spend the weekend in High Falls and decided to revist the Depuy Canal House and Chef John Novi...we were excited to be invited to dine in the kitchen while John and sous chef Sean created our spectaluar dinner! We were thrilled with the... More

I have been coming to Depuy Canal House for over 35 years, initially intrigued by the investigation pursued after it was anonymously mentioned by New Yorker Magazine as the best suburban restaurant in the United States: it has been a restaurant for special occasions or simply for a spontaneous destination for a meal after a drive from the City or... By far one of the finest eateries I have ever visited. Everything was a science my taste buds were jumping for joy! I am very lucky to live so close to such a fine restaurant. Chef Novi is a genius!

When you come to the Depuy Canal House you must know that the chef is world-renowned for his brilliant but eclectic mix of flavors. I read articles about the "Father of New American Cooking" as well as Chef Novi's interest in locally sourced foods years ago and eagerly anticipated my first visit and every meal since. The restaurant, with centuries... More

This review would be 5-star except for the lack of care and attention received upon entering the Dupuy Canal House. For instance, is there a coat closet? It would be really nice to have one available, even self-service. The lovely antique dining room(s) look and feel shabby with all the winter coats draped on chair-backs. The food is inventive, flavourful,... More
