Description: Experience our region's farms, vineyards, and community. Together we create...
Experience our region's farms, vineyards, and community. Together we create the wine & cuisine that defines our place – the Finger Lakes region. Come to Red Newt Cellars and allow yourself to truly taste the Finger Lakes. As a recipient of Wine & Spirits Magazine's 2011 Winery of the Year, the winemakers craft elegant, regionally expressive Finger Lakes wines with an emphasis on Single Vineyard aromatic whites such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris. Red Newt also produces world-class reds perfectly suited for the cool-climate region of the Finger Lakes: Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. The message at Red Newt is simple: grown here, made here. With the innovative, locally sourced Finger Lakes cuisine in the Bistro, the chefs at Red Newt are continuously working to build an awareness of regional products as well as to create lasting relationships between local farmers and restauranteurs. The menu is ever-changing, eclectic, and exciting - tailored to reflect the seasons of the Finger Lakes. The wine list, presented with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, offers well over 200 selections from top producers in the region. With a collaborative team of winemakers and chefs, it is this synergy between the expression of wine and cuisine that sets Red Newt apart.

I love the Red Newt

One of my favorite wineries. The tasting room also has a small bistro. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Their Circle Riesling is outstanding and is a constant on our wine buy list.

The tasting was done by a gentleman with passion... Retired from Wall Street and living blissfully with long hair, sweatshirt and jeans... Pouring wine for happy people all day. He knew his stuff and steered my husband and I to some truly delicious dry and semi-dry whites and reds. Even though the 2012 varietals were all superb (great growing year... More

We came to the Newt Cellar winery mainly to have lunch but were disappointed. It was a simple lunch but not as flavourful as we would have expected for the calibre of this establishment. There was wine tasting, which we did not do but for lunch I had their Riesling Circle, which was very good and we purchased one bottle.... More

This was our fourth yearly visit. They have closed their small dining room and the adjoining deck citing the cost of the air conditioning. The also eliminated dinner. Winery tasting is fine, had lunch on the other deck, options were limited, soup outstanding and sandwiches (there were six of us).

First time visiting area and had been told to try Red Newt for lunch and wine tasting. Unfortunately disappointed. Grilled cheese sandwich w/bacon $12. Did not even come with a bag of chips. Lunch was not worth the money. Wine tasting was average. Building, tasting and dining area was very clean and appealing. But if going for a nice lunch,... More

We had eaten at Red Newt four or five years ago when the Bistro was in full swing and had a fabulous lunch. I know they have had their problems at Red Newt and had shut down the main Bistro. When I saw on their web site they were open for lunch, I thought lets give it a try. You... More

The stop made here was due to me reading that this was rated on of the top 100 wineries to visit in the U.S. WE did the wine tasting to start. The women were very knowledgeable and helpful. The wines were also very good. This is not a vineyard, their grapes are grown elsewhere in the Finger Lakes. We were... More

The wine was good...but the woman doing the tasting was a littttttle weird. Not sure if that is just her personality or if she was drinking all of the wine before she started doing the tastings ;) $5 tasting fee, pretty views.

I was disappointed to learn that Red Newt Bistro only serves lunch and very early dinners, but the food is still good, and the view from the deck facing Seneca Lake is awesome.

We enjoyed lunch at the Red Newt. Sevice for lunch was excellent - -you order at a counter but staff said for us to have wine tasting while we waited. The food was very good -- the meatloaf grilled cheese reminded me of meatloaf sandwiches I had has a kid.
