Very good

Very good steak house. I have to say it was one of the best steaks I have had in a while. Porterhouse for four of us. Done just as ordered. What I did like it was mildly seasoned and served hot although maybe I will bypass the bath of butter. The fries were just so so as well as the... read more

A visit here is a visit to a restaurant that a long time found a successful formula, like Lawry's The Prime Rib out West, and kept following it. They mastered their Porterhouses which on the menu are identified as "Steak." I varied this time with an excellent prime rib. Felt a little rushed at an early Friday evening time slot... More

Late lunch at Luger's was sublime. great service, great food. I've tried other steak houses and continue to find the best steaks in NYC at Peter Luger's. We could have stayed for hours, never a rush to "get us out" and the waiters are the best! I always go with their recommendations, and they are helpful with my food allergies,... More

Stopped in for lunch on a whim last Saturday. I consider myself an experienced carnivore, frequenting all the well-known steak houses in NYC and beyond, so I had high expectations. Despite being out on 25A, this place delivers the goods just as well as its Brooklyn sibling. A really nice garlic dressing on the salad, thick slab bacon which did... More

We have been to Peter Lugar's many many times over the years and it never changes. The Great Neck establishment is easier for us to get to then their restaurant in Brooklyn so we go there. The porterhouse steak is the gold standard along with the Peter Lugar home style potatoes, french fries and creamed spinach. The atmosphere has your... More

This was the second year in a row we were down in Long Island and again returned to Peter Luger's. We were seated at the same table as last year and jokingly had a discussion with the waiter about our waiter from last year! I really don't understand the negative reviews about this place, unless you didn't get in or... More

This seems to be a place that knows it can survive on its reputation. The attitude of the staff is friendly but also there's a sense that "we don't need you"! The hugely overpriced drinks must be paid at the bar if you're dining there and they do not accept credit cards. In fact, they refuse to take two debit... More

This was my first return trip to "Luger's" in several years, and after close to 130 years in business, a visit to Peter Luger means the Big League's for steak restaurants. Luger's is commonly cited as a gold standard for steakhouses, and this was my recent experience (The place was mobbed ... they must be doing something right after all... More

If you're looking for great steak make sure to book a reservation and eat here! Quality aged meat! I've eaten here easily over a dozen time with friends and family for everything from a regular meal to private parties. Be prepared to eat or you're wasting your money! Make sure to get the Schlag for dessert! I've eaten at both... More

This was by far the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I recommend the steak for two and the holy cow sundae for dessert. Our server was incredibly helpful and nice to my and my wife. Definitely recommend.
