We live right around the corner, but we have so many great choices in Great Neck, and can drive to excellent, or take the LIRR into NYC for excellent as well, and we love, love, love this place. We are in our 60's and have eclectic food tastes, and although I do appreciate Thai food a great deal, I love... More

Very good food, attentive service, zen-like ambiance and very reasonable prices make Laverne the best Thai restaurant on the North Shore.

Went here for dinner with friends Saturday night. I ordered the chive cake appetizer special and the shrimp teriyaki as my entree. The cake was so good. Served with a nice spicy sauce. Would definitely order again. The shrimp teriyaki was perfectly cooked, with a wonderful grilled flavor and steamed veggies alongside. Everybody else enjoyed their food very much as... More

this is a good restaurant and i will go back but next time with realistic expectations i had my heart set on a good Thai meal so we tried Laverne. The Thai dishes are tasty but they are not close to being authentic and for me, it was a disappointment as I spend so much time in Thailand and know... More

I have never been to this place before and doubt I ever will. I discovered them through Groupon, I made a reservation on Saturday 9/29/2013 with a lady that answered the phone and identified herself as "Fonny" for Sunday 9-28-2013. Upon arriving to the restaurant restaurant, I was soo disappointment to find out that the restaurant was close on Sundays.... More

An interesting blend of French, Japanese and Thai in a plain-Jane storefront restaurant. The décor is "early-Formica", paper napkins, clean but uninspired décor. Service was a bit slow as if they were bewildered by the fact that the place was full on a Saturday night. All that being said, the food was good, the prices fair and more than reasonable... More

I visited Laverne of Great Neck in January of 2012 when it first opened. At that time the food was exciting and diverse but needed a little tweeking. I returned to Laverne in July of 2013, and I was amazed at how far Laverne has progressed. The menu has been updated and the new exotic gourmet Thai additions were superb.... More

The food was just OK and the service was fine. There was only one other table taken so it was somewhat lonely.

better than average Pan Asian Thai. Traditional Pad Krow (basil and chili) sauce was well presented. Nice turn on sushi rolls. I really enjoyed the Lobster/Mango roll and that's something because I don't usually do the froofy rolls. Avoid the Tuna Sandwich roll, it's mostly rice. I have brought several folks back there and all enjoyed the place.

Quiet atmosphere. Disappointed in the sea bass. It did not taste fresh and was swimming in a gravy. Serivce relaxing. Wild ginger, around the corner, is a better choice for Asian fusion food.
