Description: The Village Inn is located in the historic Ferry Village in Grand Island...
The Village Inn is located in the historic Ferry Village in Grand Island, New York. Its quaint, homelike atmosphere and close proximity to the Niagara River make this restaurant a popular meeting place for locals, as well as for those visiting off island. In 1988, owner Michael Carr took over The Village Inn that was previously named Lippens Grill. He changed the name to The Village Inn, which was inspired by his father. With the help of his friends and family, he renovated this 1890's building to make it the cozy eatery that it is today. At The Village Inn, we pride ourselves on creating all of our food from scratch. We are best known for our unique, culinarily adventurous soups as well as baking all of our desserts in house from homemade recipes. From our moist and sweet bread puddings to our spicy lemon tabasco clam chowder, we strive to please all taste buds. The Village Inn has customers from all over the area that come in to experience this one of a kind restaurant. You are sure to enjoy your meal served by our light-hearted, welcoming wait staff while engaging in our distinctive dining atmosphere. All of us at The Village Inn are looking forward to your dining with us while experiencing our historic niche in Ferry Village.

Great little restaurant, came back second night!

We were on the last leg of a family road trip and stayed on the island 2 nights. We were recommended this place by a young lady at the place we stayed and all 4 of us really enjoyed what we had. In fact we enjoyed it so much we came back on our last night for some good home... read more

We've been disappointed with the beef on weck at a few places, but found an online coupon and decided to give it a try. We went for lunch midweek, and customers steadily came in, but it wasn't overcrowded. Service was very friendly and our orders were taken quickly. There was a good choice of beer on tap, including those from... More

We love everything about the Village Inn from the food, the friendly staff and the ambiance. All the desserts are homemade by Sarah and we always make sure to save room for one of her special treats!

Go early, if possible, to get best parking and a good table. Food is very well prepared and met our fancy. Had the fish fry, which is only available certain days a week ... it was nicely done and very tasty. Also had the Roast Beef on a Weck--nice portion, great roll and served with horseradish on the side (they... More

Don't be fooled by the muddy, pot holed parking lot. This old, creaky place still has the best beef on weck sandwich around. You can even ask the owners how they prepare it and they will tell you. Very casual and always full of the local "islanders" as clients. Desserts are usually pretty good too.

My husband and I are "Islanders" and love The Village Inn. Great food, generous portions both from the kitchen and the bar! The Fish Fry is definitely our favorite but we have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered. Add reasonable prices and friendly staff and you have a 5 star experience.

what a delightful night, centering on the Cheap Gourmet's seasonal corned-beef dinner, so tender it could be cut with a dirty look, but not many of those in this cheery atmosphere ... just loud enough to know you were somewhere, but no deterrent to conversation... other top items, roasted red pepper tomato soup, specialty club sandwich on sourdough bread, seemingly... A tiny, family restaurant tucked away on Grand Island. We enjoyed some terrific Beef on Weck. It was delicious, tender, and soaked in tasty au jus. They label it as "award winning" on their menu and I have to believe them--it was excellent.

We appreciate the great review! We strive to have the very best of everything we make!!! We roast our beef in house and make our kimmelwick rolls to order. It happens to be one of my favorites too! Keeping the greatest buffalo traditions on our menu is something we will never change :) Sarah M. More

stopped in here after a long wrestling match with the health care "system" and it was just what the doctor ordered, singularly relaxing on a slow afternoon ( 3 p.m.) with a scrumptious greek burger (albeit, cooked too long) and the signature club sandwich on sourdough... great IPA for accompaniment and have brought home a monstrous square of death-by-chocolate cake......
