When I arrived I was apprehensive, the exterior was plain. Once inside you see an old style German restaurant. It is an exceptionally clean (white glove) interior, including rest rooms. The food was professionally prepared. We had the Sauerbraten with dumplings & Spaetzle. I chose a German Riesling wine.(The Sauerbraten was superb and did not require a Knife to cut).... More

Nobody ever talks about great German food. They haven't eaten here. Everyone must try the Pretzel. It's made fresh and not like the kind you've had at the movies. Order the Wiener schnitzel (veal) or the same dish with chicken. Be patient, since there is a long wait. On weekends, typically over 1 hour. Parking is free.

Long time great restraint serving a large number of delicious German dishes as well as standard fare. A must "go-to-dine": location in the New Paltz area

The food here is more authentic than in some restaurants in Germany. Never have had a mediocre meal here. Service is outstanding, bar is terrific and prices are reasonable. BTW, the packed parking lot speaks for the restaurant as well.

Yep, beyond its incredible spaetzle, wursts, and beers, this place serves fresh, innovative entrees and sandwiches, taking care to have something for everyone (GF/Vegan/Veg) which is interesting and tasty. They are also willing to make changes and the service is pretty quick for such a raging business. TIP: This place can be nuts to get in, just wait until 7... More

At the base of Minnewaska mountain range is this wonderful quaint restaurant. It is known for its German flair with food and beers but also has a great menu and full bar. Friendly atmosphere and always busy. They do accept reservations but if you time it right you probably will get a table right away if not too late in... More

After a rainy morning exploring the Mohonk Preserve, we drove past the Mountain Brauhaus Restaurant, and the parking lot was filled with cars. We decided to have lunch/dinner here, and we were glad we did. The restaurant is farm-to-table, with cage-free eggs, grass-fed beef, and local produce. I had a delicious glass of pear cidre (similar to the Spanish cidre,... More

Go and enjoy delicious, authentic German food in New Paltz, NY! You will be very glad you did! We drive over an hour to get there and we go there several times a year in different seasons. During our drive we enjoy the beautify Mohonk Mountain Ridge scenery as we anticipate the delight of enjoying delicious, authentic German food while... More
