Mind blowing Soup Dumplings

Although it was a busy spring Sunday and the streets of Chinatown were crowded with tourists, we were seated almost immedIatley, sharing a large table with four other people who were pleasant and friendly. In general. The place was mobbed. Service was prompt courteous and correct. The food was... read more

The soup dumplings are famous for a reason. They are so, so good. Seven of us ate lunch and it was fast, hot, delicious. Just about the best chinese food you can get.

Decided to eat something small before we headed to another place for lunch. Restaurant was quite busy. We had to share table which is okay. We order 2 sets of steamed pork dumpling. Upon arrival in the bamboo container very fresh and hot. Delicious indeed. Would have ordered more but eating other things. Even the noodle were worth eating. Hopefully... More

The soup dumplings are good. I tried them for the first time in Shanghai. Joe's are not as good, but pretty close. There are a few more appetizers that are worth it, but the main courses are just basic Chinese food you can get anywhere else.

We live close to Joe's Shanghai but don't visit very often for several reasons. The place is nearly always crowded so expect to wait up to half an hour or more for a table. The New York City grade, a measure of cleanliness and health standard compliance, is always a fluctuating low grade. The highest I have ever seen them... More

My wife and I enjoy visiting her old home neighborhood in Flushing Queens. As you may know Flushing has become the new Chinatown in the city. Joe's is one of the first and famous for their dumplings. They have added a branch in old Chinatown and one in the theater district. I found they also have two locations now in... More

Food was fine but service was somewhat underwhelming, despite the many staff and the speedy arrival of our order. A much talked about restaurant which was very busy, but I've eaten better food and paid less money in the area.

It was very good food. We thought the many waiters were much more interested in the TV than us though.

Great ambience and food! When visiting NYC do not forget about China Town. The dumplings served at Joe's Shangai were delicious.
